I moved to Colorado several years ago. At the time, I was not playing much golf as I focused on work. The last year or so, the golf bug has hit me hard and I'm getting more and more into it (hence, visiting and starting a thread here). Anyway, I wanted to reach out to golfers in the Colorado region (or anyone who has played here more than 1 time). Does anyone have thoughts on the following:

1. Best competitive golf event (amateur level)
2. Best combined practice facility/golf course)
3. Best neighborhood to live in for golfing
4. Best value for a round of golf and the experience in the location
5. Why do top designers like to call Colorado home (Dye Designs, Eng Designs, Phelps Designs)
6. Best Value Membership in Colorado (public, semi-private or private)
7. Given the change in seasons, what do you to practice when there is snow on the ground?
8. Best time of the day to play?

Now that I've posed some questions, here are a few of my answers

1. Golf Channel Am Tour - consistent golf course, consistent players and well-run
2. Ridge at Castle Pines, but a close second is probably Green Valley ranch because they have such a good facility there.
3. Not sure - maybe somewhere in Aurora which has 5 quality courses within 10 minutes, or smack dab in the middle of Red Sky Ranch (oh wait...i dont have $2 million in the bank to buy property there)
4. Keystone Ranch/River was a great experience, but I have yet to go to Ballyneal in Holyoke, CO or Cherry Hills, or Country club of Castle Pines...
5. They come because of the beauty and great landscapes we have, and the ease of access to worldwide destinations via DIA.
6. Public - Green Valley Ranch or Ridge at castle pines (you get carts in your membership). Private, probably Cherry Creek CC
7. I take half swings in my basement since my ceiling heights are only 8 feet. I also try and putt.
8. During a Broncos Sunday home game, in the late afternoon when its 65 degrees out and the sun is setting...

Played several times in Colorado. Grand Elk Golf course in Granby (near WinterPark) has to be the best value around Denver. Really high altitude, almost a mountain Links type course on a high mountain valley. http://grandelk.com/course

• Day 36: back to some mirror work tonight. Need a bit more forearm roll in my feels to help with the shallowing.
• _sigh_ so close to red text.  Went away for three days, but didn't do a practice morning-of-departure (Friday) nor evening-of-return (Sunday), so I had three misses, back to day one. Day 1, May 4 2026.  At home today, spent nearly an hour in my practice room, hitting about three dozen practice balls, primarily with my 6-iron.
• Day 254 5-4 Arms off chest in backswing and downswing. Short swing, pause and then hit.  Hit foam balls. Keeping arching of wrist a focus as well.
• I would think of it in terms of time. The time it takes to get the arm angle into a good position to deliver the club with proper shaft lean. Another component is rotation, but that is also a matter of timing. It relates to how the body stalls to give the golfer time to hit the ball. If you have to get 80+ degrees out of that right elbow in one third of a second versus 50 degrees in the same time then you have to steal time from somewhere. It is usually body rotation. That does not help with shaft lean.  I agree in that amateurs tend to make the swing more complicated than pro golfers.
• I haven't been able to practice like I wanted and won't for the next week.  1. The weather sucks in Ohio this year. I have been mostly inside hitting foam balls. Just kind of my basic stuff.  2. I woke up last Saturday with a left side rib muscle on fire. If I turned or leaned a certain way it would spasm that almost buckled my knees. I have been taking a break to let that settle. I don't want to get a long term injury. I think I pinched a nerve or just aggravated a muscles.   3. I am going on a mini-vacation to Florida (screw you Ohio weather) with a friend, and rolling that into a work conference I have next week. I will be with out my clubs for a week.  I will be back next in two Fridays to hit the ground running with some warmer temps and better weather in Ohio, hopefully. I would really like to get more out on the course and the range.
