I decided to become a member at the simulator place up the street (what can I say? winter is long and they sell beer!) and one of the booths is equipped with cameras and swing analysis software so I thought I'd give it a try since it's free to use for members.  Sadly the DTL camera placement isn't very good because it has to shoot overtop of the bar at the rear of the booth and is fixed to the wall.  But I figure it's better than nothing, even if it's kind of dark.

Here is my current driver swing, it used to be a draw but sometime over the last couple months it's turned into a very consistent push.  No right to left movement at all, just a straight on push.  I welcome any suggestions or drills to work on correcting this.  It doesn't stop me from pulling out the driver because it's very consistent as I said, but I'd love to get my draw back.

Your right foot is coming off the ground to soon. Try to let your right fold and then turn.  Here are a couple videos.

Thanks for the videos, I'll definitely work on that drill and try to keep that foot planted longer.  I'll have to video an iron swing as well, I wonder if I do the same thing.  Though I've not been having any issues with my irons strangely.

I wasn't able to get into the booth with the cameras unfortunately so I don't have a new video to post yet. However I was able to fix my problem! Back in October or November I had started to flare out my back foot (pretty much when my problems began now that I think about it - though the push was a gradual thing). I don't remember the reason I thought it was a good idea, probably to help with getting my hip turn I'm guessing.

In experimenting yesterday with trying to keep my right foot more grounded I started going back to having my right foot perpendicular to the target line while still maintaining the flare in my left foot.  All the sudden my push-draw came back and I my distance even jumped from high 250's-low 260's back into the mid-high 270's where it was previously! I will post a new video sometime this week when I can get back.

I'm actually quite curious if my foot is staying down better this way and that fixed it, or it's just something about having that right foot squared up that works for my swing.  I'm guessing it's the former but video will tell for sure.

    • No, hitting into a hazard that is supposed to be avoided and is designed to be penalizing is not the same as hitting it into the middle of the fairway.   You are penalized because you hit it into a hazard. Based on your logic let's say you hit it into a red staked penalty area and you could normally play it but it's in temporary casual water from rain. Would you expect a free drop from there too??
    • They could have declared it GUR, sure. It is. It's temporary water, and as I said before, an abnormal course condition (ACC). That's what rule 16 is about — ACCs. No, a bunker ≠ the middle of the fairway. You are penalized because you hit it into a bunker. As for the rest… let's stick to the topic. Yep.
    • It's not dumb. It's dumb to randomly allow a free drop that provides an advantage you don't deserve. And your committee had the option of determining it GUR. Did you talk to them?
    • A sand trap is not supposed to have 3 inches of water in it. To me that’s temporary, casual water. Just like if your ball lands in a deep rain puddle in the middle of the fairway. I would have gladly hit out of any spot in that bunker. I understand that it’s a different rule. I just think it’s a dumb rule. You are penalized because it rained.  Here’s what I think is the dumbest rule in golf, and all sports for that matter - professionals playing for millions of dollars in a tournament have to carry around a little pencil and scorecard to keep their score and sign it, when there are big scoreboards all over the course and on tv. Can you imagine the Knicks losing because they didn’t count their score correctly? Like I said, I love the game, but it’s time to move into the 21st century already.
