I've been looking for an app to do this for some time. In addition to providing a scorecard facility, it would be good if apps could calculate, and maintain handicaps, with the possibility of emailing or printing handicap certificates.

Another problem is that many of the apps out there provide some form of GPS capability, but the only courses available are in the USA. I golf in Europe and would appreciate similar capabilities over here.

Any recomendations?

I use the golf card app, coupled with a membership on ushandicap.com.

The app is your basic GPS+Scorecard app, using google maps to image the course.  You can download their course manager and create any course you want.  You just find it on a map, and mark the the tee boxes, greens, etc.  It probably takes 20 minutes.

You can sign into your ushandicap account and upload your scores, giving you an official USGA handicap and letting you print a certificate.

Golflogix app has literally hundreds of courses (too many for me to count) listed for several European countries, and it's free.  They are worldwide........  As for an "official" USGA handicap, you'll need to register with the USGA for that.  Here in Canada, it's $40 a year (public players club) for an official RCGA index.

Can't edit my last post, as I noticed I carried over dsc123's thoughts on a USGA handicap, which you wouldn't need anyway.  Is there an equivalent system to the public players club across the big pond?  If so, that's all you would need to carry an official index.

    • I believe that losing a tour card is too extreme but definitely agree that more needs to be done to prevent slow play.
    • Its way past time both tours  have  major  penalties for  slow  play. I  hate  it when they say" This group is  on the  clock". Big damn deal. Issue  penalties. Maybe Hull is a  bit too harsh but  its time a slew  of  2 stroke  penalties start  being  issued.     Charley Hull is fed up with slow play on the LPGA, so she offered a ‘ruthless’ solution “I’m quite ruthless, but I said, ‘Listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it’s a tee shot penalty; if you have three of them, you lose your Tour card instantly.’ I’m sure that would hurry a lot of people up, and they won’t want to lose their Tour card. That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that.” Who knows if that will work. But if it does not, maybe the PGA Tour should adopt Hull’s idea. The LPGA should, too, or at least assess penalty strokes for slow play. Five-hour rounds for a final group on Sunday is unacceptable and a quick way to lose interest and engagement from fans.

    • A hair under 190. It was pretty downhill, though, so I think we were playing between 180-185 to the pin. My 6 iron went 187 according to shot scope and ended up 18 feet away.
    • That's a tough pin on 14 at TR, had to make the hole play much longer, how far was that shot? I've only played that hole with a front pin.
