Hello Folks - This is my first post so be kind.... I'm 51 and just started playing golf about 2 years ago. I broke 100 for the first time a couple of weeks ago but that's kind of beside the point. The game is fun, its great mental and physical exercise and its even helped me to become a little closer to my sons (my oldest is 23 and just started playing this spring -- he has been hitting his 5 iron over 200 yards and hits an 8 iron 170 yards -- this seems a bit absurd to me...what do you think?) At any rate, I've enjoyed this forum so I've taken the membership plunge. Looking forward to having some fun with you folks here too! Peace (anybody seen a cherry Chrysler Crossfire around...I seem to be missing one! -- Way to Go Boob D!

Hey, and you are right, the game of golf is great for so many reasons. That is really neat you are getting closer to your sons by playing. And congrats on getting under 100, that's always a fun experience. Now it's on to breaking 90.

Anyway, it's great to have you here and hope you have some fun along the way!

Congrats on breaking 100! I've only recently accomplished that myself and it is very satisfying. I think part of this site is celebrating the game itself and every milestone whether you are breaking 100, 90, 80 or whatever.

Plus celebrating boobs is good too.

Actually, either one given as a gift, would suffice!
And, breaking 100 is difficult to do...congrats!...but once you accomplish it, you realize it wasn't that hard. As you approach 90, you will start realizing that you "could have" made 89 if you would have "just made that putt".

Of course, when my husband comes home after playing with his golf buddies, complains about his 88, I want to SCREAM!!

Sincerely,
Stacy Solomon

    • God I hate when golf can’t give me n+1 day of success. Drives me up the wall when my body is, FU! Im like, ok let’s check the vid. Yep too much turn, arms getting behind me. Ok, I work on that. Get the feel back for a shorter swing. Confirm with video. Then going back to arms down stuff.  Arms down, nope it’s hands out towards the ball. Oh, you get arms down better. Guess what, you don’t get to rotate and you hit 6 inches behind the ball. Yay!  Maybe I should have walked off the range and not wasted my time. I wish there was a body alert system when it’s going to a SOB for the day. 😭 OK rant over, I’ll be back at this tomorrow.

    • I mean there has to be some thought. For eg., something like 'soft knees and wrists' at set up and maybe a dynamic 'left arm to chin' as a trigger to start DS. I have these one or two anchor thoughts and have served me well. In fact, my wildest swings are the one where I have no thoughts or if I forget to walk thru my anchor thoughts. In contrast my best rounds are where I am consistent with the anchor thoughts.    OTOH, if I am running my entire half hour lesson (hypothetical) with some pro that I had last Saturday or whatever before every swing then I'm probably in trouble before I even get over the ball.
    • Two bits. Bit 1 The NCAA's appeal of Brendan Sorsby being granted a temporary injunction will not be heard until February, so there will be nothing to prevent Sorsby from playing the full season and potential CFP.  Bit 2 The Big Ten Conference will hold a meeting and is expected to ban all of its athletic programs from playing Texas Tech in the regular season. Georgia has done the same. The SEC will meet to consider a similar ban. Fellow Big 12 members TCU and Kansas State are spearheading a similar ban, but the conference charter might not allow it. Meanwhile, Big 12 athletic directors are meeting this week to explore what options the conference might have.
    • No, but I'm also in disagreement that golfers have no thoughts over the golf ball, and/or don't ever think I've met someone I truly believe is thinking nothing but "target" or something on most shots.
