With the mild winter we've been having here in NC, I really haven't had too many cold weekends in which to play, most of the time it's been high 50's to mid 60's, but this weekend it's actually been cold.  I went and took a lesson last week to get my driver back on track, since I've been hitting low hooks for the past couple months and haven't been able to get myself out of it, so I was intent on playing this weekend.

I sucked it up and bundled up today and it was 36 degrees with 16-20mph winds when I tee'd off.  The front 9 was a little rough as I was freezing, but my driver was going great and my irons were decent, so I carried on.  The hardest part was putting.  I never imagined how hard it was to keep the feeling in your hands for putting when it's cold outside.  Because of that, I had a couple three putts that left me with a 47 on the front 9.  Not great, but considering the cold and high winds, I can live with it.

Started the back 9, and I don't know whether I had gotten numb or used to the cold, but I immediately started with 3 pars.  I then finished the rest of the back 9 with a 42 and hitting 6 of 7 fairways.  Putting still wasn't great, but good enough to tie my best 9 hole score on the back 9 ever.

I think I'm going to get a few of those hand warmers in case it stays cold for a couple weeks, I would imagine they'd probably help out with the feel in putting.

Does anyone have any other tips or tricks for playing when it's cold outside?

Where do you live? I just played in the same miserable weather in Charlotte but it didn't go nearly as well for me. I use the footjoy wintersoft gloves when it's really cold and they work great. I find I'm still able to control the club well even with them both on.  Or if you prefer you can just wear them between shots.

Yep, this weekend was cold. Saturday it was 29 with 20-30mph winds, I think it warmed up to 33 before we finished. I second the FJ winter gloves, when it was like it was this weekend I'll wear them all the time. WALK, don't ride, helps keep the body temp up and dress in multiple thin layers. I can't stand to wear anything bulky that hinders my swing.
