Hi:  My 16 yr old daughter has a 10.5 degree Ladies Superfast driver with Ladies shaft.  She is definitely getting better playing for HS team.  I am wondering if I should re-shaft her driver into either a senior shaft or a men's shaft.  Would this depend on what her swing speed is?  She is shooting about 90 and by mid summer will probably be in mid 80s (lessons and playing alot).  Currently hits her driver about 160-175 carry.  Thanks a bunch.

Is there a reason you think she needs a different flex right now, or just looking to the future?

Personally, I would see a competent fitter/builder and get his/her recommendation (not Dick.s, Golf Galaxy, etc.).  She would probably gain more yards with a little more loft and a shaft to fit her swing speed, transition, tempo, release, and general strength.

Thanks.  I feel like she has been taking a more aggressive swing since a year ago when we bought it.  So I'm just wondering if a slightly stiffer and/or heavier shaft will give her a little more distance.  She's decently straight with what she has right now.  Her irons are also all standard Ladies flex.

Women usually get the "shaft" when it comes to equipment.  One, maybe 2 letter flexes.  Which may or may not be right for them.  And getting the right flex is just one of many variables to finding the right shaft.  That's why I think a visit with a good builder is in order.

Well, if you're looking at a new driver, get her swing speed measured (at the very least). I've seen too many otherwise-reputable OEM representatives try to fit women of all ages and sizes into L-flex. I ran into a lady from my then-club at a golf show one day; she had gone to two companies to try out drivers, and each gave her only L-flex to try. Finally she got one to at least measure her swing speed before trying to fit her - 95 mph. She hits it past a good number of the men in the club. Anyway, your daughter's distance could be a strength limitation, a form limitation, or maybe the shaft is too whippy and is costing her distance.
