Does anyone on here dip? I've been dippin Copenhagen since I was 14 (18 now). I quit a little over a month ago then the weather got nice enough to start playin golf again. I cannot play golf without dip. I made it about 7 holes before I bummed a pinch of a guy I was playing with. I don't know if I've just grown accustomed to it during sports or what, but I am perfectly fine without it unless I'm playing golf.

What about everyone else?

I smoke a ton when I play

I started dipping when I was 15 and quite cold turkey when I was 28. That being said, I always keep a can in my bag because I enjoy having a pinch of snuff while playing.

On a side note, I don't know how anybody can smoke a cigar while playing. I've tried it and it's too much work!

Always have a cigar while I play. It's great if I am riding and somebody else is driving, also great if it is a slow day!

I've smoke them while riding in the cart or walking between holes but I was referring to actually keeping the cigar in your mouth while swinging. I just can't do it.

as a dental student, dippinng is worse than smoking as it leads to an extremely high prevalence to oral cancer, gum disease, and thus loss of teeth. not only that, it's disgusting when people spit their chew everywhere on the course.

No I agree with that, I have tried it and usually end up burnign my self or dropping it or worse hitting a bad shot because I was more focused on the cigar.

...or worse hitting a bad shot because I was more focused on the cigar.

Insert witty Bill Clinton joke here.

As far as spitting on the course, I spit when I need to although I won't spit on the greens. And I never throw my used/old dip on the ground. Always into a trash can or an empty bottle/can.

I used to dip and smoke cigars but once I started getting more physically active and trying to live a healthier life style I stopped. Granted, I still want a lip-full once in a while but oh well.

i dip.. nothing like a big ol fat dip when deer hunting
and im sure i'll dip when i play golf but havent played yet

its funny ur dentist says smoking is better cause he loves teeth
and your dr. will tell ya dipping is better cause he loves lungs
i did both for many years and feel alot better after i quit smoking
i figured i could live without a lip but couldnt live without my lungs

I do not dip, tried it, hated it... I have a couple friends who do it while we play, it doesn't bother me but I do think it is quite gross imo.

On the other hand, I do have plenty of friends who smoke "the mary jane", I don't get how it can be enjoyable while playing golf. My good friend claims it actually helps him at times with being more relaxed, easier swings... and he is about a 5 handicap.

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
