Weigh in on it. Tiger plays well in difficult, fast, firm major championship type venues. Yet he's only won here once? The rough isnt that long. He's a clutch putter, great short game.

The one stat the came back up this week was his inconsistant driver. Last week he was hitting alot of 3 woods and his driver didnt seem to go awry. He hasnt always driven it poorly though, what is the other factor(s) that gives him trouble here?

I am not really a Tiger fan so when he struggles its pretty interesting to me. Good luck to him at Oakmont not knowing what kind of tee shot he'll have that week.

your thoughts?

I am an anti-tiger fan! I hate the fact that when he plays bad they turn off the camera's from him. I love watching him hack.

That being said, Tiger has won on that course twice, 1 US Amatuer, and 1 Players title! So although he doesn't contend there very often and I guess he doesn't like the course from some of his comments, he still has had some success there!

I'd like to see the guy hack, too.

I'd blame him getting rid of Butch Harmon--Mickelson picked the guy up, and look where it landed him.

Did you see anything this week that implied "firm" OR "fast"? I didn't. Neither did Johnny Miller, who made his "0 for 2" comment.

Tiger had an off-week all around. He says he lipped out eight putts on Saturday. If true, and 3/4 of them go in, he's got a 67 instead of a 73 and instead of finishing even he finishes -6. Personally I don't quite believe that - his driving and iron game seemed off this week too. He wasn't shown working on his putting - the cameras showed him on the greens. Plus, as others have said, he's won here twice, AND again I'll repeat that these aren't firm, fast conditions at all.

I think it's a major, so Tiger will know what kind of tee shot he'll have that week.

Yeah, it landed him a streak in which he's won 9 of his last 13 PGA Tour events and 3 of 7 this year. It's landed him on top of the FedExCup points list despite playing in half the tournaments of most of the guys below him. It's landed him two of the last three majors and four of the last nine.

Tiger will probably next play The Memorial and then the U.S. Open. He could easily go 2 for 2 to get to 5 of 9 for the year. Remember, Tiger wins majors where Jack's won majors, and Jack has won at Oakmont.

I believe I posted this pre-round friday. The greens seemed firm on thursday, friday. Alot of shots werent holding and there were comments about the greens being new and firm. Later on in the week they seemed to hold shots better and soften up, For whatever reason, Be it as it may, Tiger has not not had the success here like he has at other tournaments. That was the topic.

it amazes me how he can do almost anything with a golf ball except hit it straight with a driver...doesn't make any sense. it obviously affects him, so you'd think he'd throttle it down 10% and hit more fairways.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
