Hello all, newbie here...glad I found the place.

I have an opportunity to buy a set of Taylor Made RAC's cheap (stiff shaft - steel) ....I'm a 18 handi and trying to improve...I've never had my swing speed clocked but I'm told by club pro's and some wise old-timers that I swing around 100 mph. I'm 6 foot 2 and 225 lbs. I tend to hit the ball high with a slight fade with my current irons...I'd love to correct my fade.

Would these clubs be a good fit for me?

Driver: TaylorMade R7 Superquad 9.5* & Callaway Diablo Octane 10.5*

3 Metal: TaylorMade R11 15.5*

Irons: Ping G15 stiff, steel AWT shafts 4-PW

Hybrids: Adams #3 - 20* & #4 - 23*

Wedges: Callaway Forged X-Tour 52* & 58*

Putter: Odyssey 33" White Ice #1

I play TM RAC LTs and I really like them. See if you can try them before you buy them. If not, you mentioned that you can get them cheap. If you get them and don't like them, you can always resell them.

What's up, dude... The Rac LT2 is the set I've played with since I was fit for them back in 2006. I work in the golf industry and have plenty of choices if I want to upgrade but I just can't let these go!!! Great feel, workability and forgiveness...and it's a sweet looking club, to boot.

I'd suggest getting them 1/2 inch extended if you can, otherwise you may not hit them as solid as you'd like. The one downside is that since they're a cast club (as opposed to forged) you won't be able to flatten them, so you may come in with the heel leading, so make sure you learn to sole the club at impact or you'll hook everything. Otherwise, it's a great club. Good luck and keep improving no matter what. This game is great!!

There are the 2002 verision and the 2005 version. I have the 2002 version and they are nice club, but they are NOT forgiving so if you sometimes have trouble hitting your irons consistenly, don't use these clubs. I had stiff shafts in mine (TrueTemper Dynamic Gold S300) and they were nice. They aren't very forgiving, but when you do hit them well you will know.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
