I just bought a new set of irons (Callaway X-20's) now I need a good driver and three wood. I'd like to get a 3 wood first as I hit it much more often than a driver. Obviously I'd like to get something forgiving and easy to hit...I'm not overly concerned about length.

I tend to hit the ball pretty high and usually with a slight to nasty fade..haha

I'm not necessarily partial to any brand even though I have Callaway irons.

I've been hitting a Taylormade Firesole 9.5 driver with a bubble shaft for years and a real crappy 3 wood. (some import brand)

PLEASE HELP?

Thanks

I'm thinking about a taylormade R7...I'm seeing many used and darn cheap with pretty good reviews. Ive never hit one or even seen one in person. Are these a good club? Are they a "full size" club head by today's standard?

I absolutely *adore* my JPX 800 stiff. Perfect flight for me, great off the tee or off the deck and it looks sweet too.

I do hear great things about BallzRocket fairway though...

I haven't tried it, but there's a lot of hype about the TM RocketBallz woods, especially the 3W.  I like the Titleist so haven't hit any other fairway woods since I bought it last year.

So hard to recommend clubs to other people...

I really liked the Callaway Diablo Octane Tour Fairway when I was trying out fairway woods, but what I would honestly recommend to you is that you go to your nearest golf store, and hit clubs, and see what you like. What worked for me is almost guaranteed NOT to work for you. So try some things out, and see what you really like.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
