Short game got better, long game got worse.  Scoring overall got better.  Playing more and hitting fewer balls.

I was thinking that might be the case. I'd like to practice more but knowing its there will be the challenge.

I ended up playing too much for the amount of time I was spending doing drills at the range.  I had fun though!

What does living on a course have to do with how often or how well you play?    LOL

For me it was a package deal.  The course-side residence came with free golf.  The more rounds I played the less I went to the range.

It really doesn't. I was bored and wanted to see what people had to say. I'm building on one and will of course more. Just wondering if people played more/less practice and if like I asked got better or worse. Sometimes too much of something can be a bad thing.

LOL...it's all good.  Now if you asked the same question in the context of 'owning a golf membership' ,  I can relate to that.  There are lots of people who live on golf courses that don't even play the game.

For me.....unlimited golf playing privileges are an absolute must.

Yeah I'm a member currently, so that is covered. It more now about way easier access and surely hopping in more games. Just boils down to me finding time to work on things compared to being like a college kid at a nudie bar and going crazy there!

I used to live on a public course that I rarely played............ I didn't exactly front the course, but 4 houses away did front it.  Hehe..but I had a private golf membership elsewhere...........now that is IRONY!   Maybe that is why I responded the way I did

I find that you play more and practice less...which is fine since there are two kinds of golfers -players and practicers...

overall game has improved -especially the most important aspect short game...

one additional perk...I rarely if ever need to buy golfballs...play ProV1X  that are stockpiled in my closet   LOL

I've lived on a golf course all but 5 years of my life, and I have never hit a golf ball on any of them.  Doesn't help the one I live on now is private and I'm not about to shell out $10k to join.

What are the tour pros classified as? lol

I think that living on a golf course would increase your practice and playing time.

Play, practice, practice, practice. Repeat.

I can relate..... I haven't stepped foot onto a driving range since 1995.  I just don't like beating balls.......I'd rather just go play.  I don't even hit any balls before a round.  I've been a member at my current course since 2006 and I have unlimited range use included......I've never once stepped foot onto that range.  it cracks some people up that I know...LOL

Whenever I go to the course....I'm playing.

    • Day 22: mirror work for a while. Working on my elbow in the downswing - keeping it in a better position.
    • Day 36 (16 Dec 25) - continued the exaggerated left foot weight shift trigger adding some easy low flighted pitches with the 5h and a few putting style bump and runs with the 5h as well.
    • Day 442 - 2025-12-16 Got some swings in at an indoor academy a little south of Erie.
    • Has anyone played the new Maxfli forged irons? For the first time in I don't know how many years, they have come out with new clubs. From what I read, Maxfli was bought by Taylor Made a long time ago which then took all of their ball making technology and patents in order to get into that market. The club business was left to whither and the reorganized company, now a part of Dicks / Golfworks / Maltby, is producing these new clubs. (Their Tour X balls which I play are really good.) Anyway, I tried them both out at Golf Galaxy. There's a player's distance iron (XC-3) and a blade (XC-2) and both feel really, really nice, almost "Mizuno-like" in their soft buttery feel and they're a bargain at $800 for a set. I'm planning to ditch my Titleist's and want to go back to a forged iron. I almost pulled the trigger on the Mizuno Pro-245's last summer, but a damaged tendon sheath in my finger combined with a back injury messed up my golf game so I held off. Now the Pro-245's are no longer available, soon to be replaced by the MX-15. (At twice the price of the Maxfli's...that's what got my attention in the first place.) If anyone has played with the new Maxfli's or just tried them out like I did, let me know what you think.
    • Day 126 12-16 Back swing and rotation work today. Didn't hit any balls. Focusing on rotating and getting to lead side.
