Hey everyone, new to the forum & Golf ( 3 weeks)  . I recently purchased a TM R9 Iron set 3i-P and a Ghost Putter and still working on my swing. I am about 6'3 and got fitted and they said i need my Irons +1'' and STIFF and my question was I was told at golfsmith that I dont have to modify my Drivers / Woods or Hybrids to +1'' , but I asked the same question at another golf shop today and he said If my Irons are +1'' I should modify my driver / wood / hybrids ect....So what is the real truth to this ?

I dont have a driver or wood or any hybrids yet as i want to get my swing down really good on my irons before I buy anything else ( but having a hard time with my 3i-4i I think I am going hybrid on those )

Thanks in advance.

That's a good question.  A lot of drivers are longer now anyways, more than 45".  Check out this link I found just doing some google searches http://golftips.golfsmith.com/long-should-golf-clubs-be-2392.html

You said the first place did a fitting and gave you information, then the second place just told you something.    Did the second place do a fitting as well?   If not, I would tend to go with what the place that actually did the fitting told you.   They would have the most accurate information about you .  I am 6'4" and when I was fitted, they added 2" to my irons, 1" to my hybrid and nothing to any of the woods..    So it is entirely possible that the first guy was correct (It could also be that my fitting was incorrect I suppose but everything seems to work and fit right for me.).

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
