Odd - I've tried a lot of Edel putters and own one - when I felt a "dead" spot, it was the Indian, not the arrow, i.e. improper setup at address and placement of hands is typically the issue.

Yeah. I forget the numbers, but they're something like this: Mis-hit it 0.x inches towards the toe and the ball will roll 12% shorter without the insert but only 3% shorter with the pixl insert. Same kind of deal for the heel.

I got it mostly because I think it looks cool (I hate non-metallic inserts, like those Odyssey ones, etc.), and if it helps a little on longer putts, great.

We've tested this out ourselves, too, hooking the end of the putter into a pendulum thing and letting it swing, and placing the ball towards the toe or heel. It wasn't scientific enough that we measured, but it lost less than half of the distance over a center strike. The insert helps.

That was pretty much my thoughts.  I think it looks cool, but I absolutely hate the soft insert in my Taylormade putter, so I'm gun-shy of inserts right now.  But from reading, it seems that the metal insert doesn't have the inconsistency of the soft inserts.

Get the Pixl Insert - it is metallic. Nothing like the White Hot. Even Ping had something like it, I think, in the late 90's.

If you're getting an Edel, other than a Vari-Loft, you can get the Pixl.

The Pixl isn't mushy at all. You'll get a soft yet firm strike from that face. Not that easy to describe, but you get the idea. Not mushy :)
