I rarely (ok, never) warm up or stretch before hitting balls at the range so I tend to get a large bucket and hit about 20-30 chip and pitch shots to get loosened up.  Then I just go to whatever club I want to work on.

After stretching (even five minutes helps) I hit my sand wedge.  It's not a club that I usually put a full swing on so hitting with it for 20 minutes or so helps me to continue to get loose.  I'll follow that with progressively longer irons, skipping one each time, then my 5 hybrid, fairway woods, and driver.  Since the driver is one of the best clubs in my bag I just hit a few with it, unless I'm way off.  Then I'll go back through the clubs that I missed while hitting longer clubs and end up with my shorter irons as I started.

8i, 6i, 4i, 3h, 3w, d <- get loose routine. I'll stretch and do practice swings for 15 minutes minimum before hitting a ball.

There a lot of times I don't hit more than my 53/56/60 when out to practice. The nicest greens that are close and not on a private course are at Timber Links, they have no range. They do have a nice big green with at least 6 hole locations and a bunker to work out of. Near by is the #9 green with massive bunker to work out of and obviously the fairway leading up to it. I work on all sorts of shots out there when the course is clear.

My warm-up routine is a little different than most.  I do this before every round and before a practice session after I stretch for about 5 minutes: shoulders, lats, side stretches, toe touches, trunk rotations, back, calves, hamstrings, and groin.

1) about a dozen 7 irons: a few punches, a few 3/4, then a few full shots.

2) 5-10 drivers, mostly trying to figure out what my "natural" ball flight is that day.

3) a handful each of partial gap wedges: half and 3/4.

4) If I have time, I "play" a few holes on the range: driver, 7 iron, wedge.

5) Putting: I hit a few short, medium, and lag putts, mostly trying to get a feel for speed.

If I don't at least do 1 & 2 I can be guaranteed a terrible round.

In my  bag:

 Diablo Octane Tour 9.5, 18  -  6DT 19 (3I Hybrid) -

 Diablo Forged Irons 5-PW -  Tom Watson wedges 52,56,60 - 64 (generic)

 D.A.R.T. Belly Putter

 B330-RX Balls

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
