I'm having fsome trouble starting the down swing and I'm tryign to get my analytical brain to catch up with my feel brain. my trouble is coming through too inside out and thinning the ball/ not taking a divot. I cannot seem to start the downswing with the hips when I think about it/ performing a turn slide or otherwise. I have seen some consistency with turning the left shoulder back to the impact position but all I have been reading and hearing is fire the right side shift the right hip. So I'm wonding if continuing to turn my left shoulder back is going to become detrimental.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful as would any advice starting the downswing.

Instead of sliding hips, try sliding knees. Hogan, Snead, Nicklaus all started with nice knee action.

So its: backswing, pause, knees, FIRE!

Also, if you're a little too in-out, bring your plane a little more verical.

when i have a hard time, i try to focus on feeling my left thigh holding alot of weight, like its holding a squat position. This forces my knee to stay flexed a bit more and allow it to move towards the target more.

So the feel of opening up the left shoulder fell apart shortly after I posted this so I continue on my journey for a reliable repaeatable down swing cue. I am now trying the feel of moving my left shoulder with my chin. It's going well so far lets see if it holds up.

I have a great tip to improve timing and balance and promoting good hip movement. Try hitting 3/4 shots on the driving range with your back foot on the toes. Promotes balance and perfect weight transfer, when you can do that while maintaining balance and hitting sweet spot then take full swings.

just posted this in another thread lol

After about 50 balls I hit 90% of them first then took a divot with a high trajectory. the center of my feild of vision goes to my back leg and a start the downswing by looking over my left That's the feeling anyway that lets me get my weight to the front and my right should down.

The back foot back is a good drill. It really focus on feeling of the weight on the front foot, and staying in balance on that front foot. Its also a good drill for chipping.
