Aldila Voodoo shaft

I'm looking to buy the Cally FT tour on their pre-owned site.  I read that the Voodoo stock shaft is the real deal.  Should I get it in a stiff or X?  Swing speed: 102-105 and i have a high ball flight.

Mid-launch, mid-spin shaft.  Nothing special.  Here's their chart.  They have you in a stiff.

Thanks for the chart.  I know i fall into a stiff but my ball flight is pretty high.  My current driver is a Callaway Diablo Edge tour 8.5* with a proforce v2 77g X and I hit it pretty high.

I don't know if I'd go with the Voodoo then.  That V2 should give you a pretty flat trajectory.  Combined with the 8.5 head you should have a controllably low ball flight.  Any idea what your launch angle and spin rate are?  Given your clubhead speed you either have to too much spin or too high of a launch angle.  Could be coming in too steep or adding loft to the club because of a flip.

I don't flip the club at the ball. I release my hands pretty hard though.  I could be underestimating my swing speed a little.  My launch angle b4 the 8.5 diablo was around 17-18.

Something is off.

You should find out what your launch angle and spin rates are right now before you drop more money into to this club.  You can swing really fast and still hit the ball low.  That's why Dustin Johnson uses a 10.5* driver.  Given your swing speed you probably want to launch the ball close to 12* and have about 3500 rpms of backspin.  A shaft can fine tune some of this, but if your swing is way off, it won't do much.

I'd need to know your launch angle and spin rate.  If you have one near you, you should get on a Trackman.

Actually, I solved it today during a tournament.  I was playing the ball too far forward in my stance, (equal to or even a little outside my front) and dipping my right shoulder as I came into the ball.  When I moved it back and leveled out my shoulder turn i was hitting mid launch tee shots that would actually roll for a change.

LOL! I can honestly say that "I figured it out" has NEVER came out of my mouth involving golf. Usually it's some sort of profanity. ;-)

This is one game that lets you think you have something figured out. As soon as you do, you start to f up somewhere else. In all honesty, unless you're a low handicap or scratch... I really don't think you can figure something out and be consistent with it, at least on your own - especially during a tournament. You may have put a band-aid on something that is temporarily producing better results.

I'm not saying you're wrong or that it's impossible for you to fix something on your own, it's just unlikely and very rare. Hell, every time I "figure something out", I end up sponsoring my group with Bud Light at the turn and spend the next 9 holes having tourette syndrome.
