I think a lot of us in western PA are looking at football and hockey as the two main sports right now, not golf. It's cold. :)

Hello, I might be moving to the northern Pittsburgh area from western Canada so I have no clue what the golf in PA is like.

When I move there I might be looking for a season pass or non equity membership somewhere. I play to about a 2 hdcp and have a pet peeve playing courses that are not well manicured. I'd rather play a well maintained 6000yd track over a "championship" layout in poor condition.

If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it. Including listing places that I shouldnt waste my time with. Thanks!

In my bag:
Titleist 983E 8.5* w/ Fujikura Speeder | Titleist 980F 19* w/ Fujikura Speeder | Mizuno MP-68 3-PW DGX100 | Titleist Vokey 52.08 | Titleist Vokey 56.14 | Titleist Vokey 60.06 | Odyssey 2-ball White Hot Putter | Titleist Pro V1X

hey there fella-
Where are you coming to?- I'm in Cranberry Township- North of Pittsburgh and have played a few public courses- some better maintained than others- once you get here- I'd be happy to discuss the lay of the land so to speak-

yeah prolly best for me to wait until next spring. i know it's supposed to be warm this weekend but i'm gonna be kinda busy. i'll be around though, not going anywhere. i'm approximately 45 minutes north of cranberry. yeah i could start a thread with a brief overview of courses i played this year for us in the area. then if anyone wants to add to it that would be fine by me.

was that a real dog?

Thanks! the cranberry township is one of the places the company suggested we should live...but I would love to hear about some courses in the area. Im also wondering if anyone has experience playing at a club where a seasonal or non equity membership is available. I hope to play a lot of golf.

    • It isn't about maintaining focus 100% of the time when you are on the course. It is getting focus back for the shot at hand. Even PGA tour players will chat with their caddies or opponents about non-golf stuff, but then lock in. It is hard to try to constantly be 100% locked in for 4+ hours.  Totally normal thing to happen. You really only need a few moments of focus.  This is where a pre-shot routine helps. Maybe you need to add something that gets the focus back.  I just focus on every shot like a puzzle that needs solved. I like solving puzzle and problems. So, I try to be curious. Which then enhances focus. I think it lets me take each shot at hand. It lets me have the down time between shots. What I do is just get to the ball, and then start gathering information. Yardage, lie, wind, where is the pin at, etc.. Then I figure out what I want to do.  It's not like I can't shut off the thoughts and focus when I need to. I only need to focus for a few minutes before each shot.
