Right now I'm playing Hogan Apex Edge Pro forged with a slight cavity back design. These clubs feel like butter thru the ball , but I am still considering some muscle back blades. My Hogans have a small brown spot the size of a dime where I strike the ball, and I wore out a set of Titleist Tour Model blades about 12 years ago. My question is this. Titleist MB710 or Nike VR ? Both look good. I am going to Edwin Watts tomorrow to have my Hogans checked for loft and lie.

Those 2 clubs are pretty much the same thing. You probably wouldnt notice a difference performance wise, so it is pretty much up to what you like standing over. I know the MB 712 is a satin finish, which is probably the best looking iron on the market but i dont know if the 710 is chrome or not. I love the satin finishes over the chrome ( my preference). I dont know your iron set up but i wouldnt get MB long irons no matter how good you are. There is no advantage.

Titleist MB's...Nike blades... Mizuno blades...

They are all inherently the same...a one-piece forged blade. All with similar appearance at address. All with similar feel. I'd say just go with the cheapest.

Ok, maybe I wasnt very clear. I was looking for some folks who have maybe played one or the other. I know they all look alike. That was mostly the reason for picking those two. Haha.it appears to me that the Nikes have more meat higher on the back of the blade. I was looking for responses from those who play these irons . Thanks

This is important information for us to have.

Makes me wonder why you are asking what others think.

How many members here are that accurate?

Why not just hit some yourself?

For the record i have hit both of these clubs many times, i just dont have them in my bag because there is not much of an advantage to have a MB blade higher than an 8 iron. There is only so much Titleist and Nike can do do differentiate in such a compact design. The only ones that would feel and possibly perform differently are Scratch Blades (1018 Carbon Steel) or maybe a custom Muira Forged iron.

Why would you say that?

I am not sure if it would acutally make a difference, i just thought if there was one club that would feel and perform different it would be a club made from a softer 1018 steel. And as for Muira, they are just really high quality irons. These were just educated guesses, not factual.

You pissed on your own thread with the following comment:

Do you really expect to be taken seriously?

That comment was so the know it all goobs like you might show up and give a history lesson on the blade and how i should get the one that they play. Instead i just got your useful info. Hey, I knew some bored smart ass would show up , and they did.

Can we see a picture of your Hogan blades with the dime-sized brown spot and your username and the date written on a card in the same picture? :)

Get the Piranha A-Blades. They're better than either of the ones you listed. Or if not those, at least get a set of Miura Tournament Blades.

A guy asks for recommendations for clubs.

You guys rip him a new one for making a comment about his old clubs.

What's your reason for switching to blades?  Do you just want them?  Do you think they will lower your scores?

A guy who can burn a dime sized spot onto his Hogan irons should know the only answer to the question is to go hit them both and see how they feel unless he just wants us all to know he's buying new clubs.

Agreed.  Pretty sure he was trying to justify his unneeded blade purchase by offering the dime size spot disclaimer as well.

While I was driving my Lamborghini to work yesterday I noticed that they had changed the billboard near the bridge I drove over.

When I go to a bar I find that the best looking waitesses always fight over who will serve me when I order my orange juice.

Last night I went to the bathroom and urinated out of my twelve inch long member.

It's all about the information that is provided . What is useful and what isn't? What information is designed to impress, but ends up making you look like a DB?

Let's see the photos of the "dime sized brown spots". Reminds me of people who want help because they can't cure their "baby fade" off the tee.

My point is that he could have said "My current irons are showing a bit of wear and I'd like to replace them" He also said he had "worn out" a set of Titleist Tour Model blades.

But the killer is that someone that good isn't going to ask advice from strangers about a subject they would normally know all about and easily be able to find out through experience.

Unless of course he'll be satisfied with someone saying "The tIty blades are sweet man! I'd have them if I was a good enough ball strker"

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
