Hi all,

New to this forum and hoping you can help. I know there is a lot of these questions flying about and I have read a heap but haven't found anyone with exactly my situation.

I recently popped my old 905R head which led me to experiment with other drivers shafts. I loved this set up and had it rebuilt in case I went back but as I've got stronger I find it spins too much.

Old set-up was 905R 9.5, Diamana BB 83X, 45 in. Stock ball flight was a high draw, miss a slight push (ie doesn't draw). Very consistent and accurate.

Experimental set up is Adams 9015D, prolaunch platinum X, 46in.

I swing it at around 110-115mph, mid-fast tempo 'hitter', aggressive transition, feel that I tend to load the shaft early, relatively late release.

Spin with 905R and BB is around 3800-4000. Spin with 9015D and PL plat around 3000-3600.

The reason I ask for your thoughts - I have gained around 15-20 yards with 9015D and hit it pretty straight. Sometimes the shaft feels like it has 'let go' through impact if you know what I mean, just kind of wusses out on me. Sometimes this feeling results in an absolute bomb, and sometimes a flight that looks like a high bomb, but then just tails right. This is not a flight I very often hit on good swings.

I know conventional wisdom says I should hook a shaft that is too weak, but I often hit a slice with very weak shafts I try (I hit them left too). I rarely miss this left.

Should I look for something with a stiffer tip, or even a touch heavier? Is this a stability/torque issue? I think the PL is quite a light shaft can anyone confirm?

I have a whiteboard 83X in my 3 wood and a tipped 1inch (or so) PX 6.5 90g in my hybrid and like both.

My thoughts initially are to look at WB 73X but man are these expensive - any other suggestions as to what shaft profile/characteristics I should be looking at? Are all my assumptions incorrect?

Sorry for the long first post but I thought the background info was necessary.

Nick

    • That is a bit hyperbolic, I think. Most despicable is a bit much.  Again, a bit over the top here.  Most athletes are probably closer to being normal human beings than degenerates and avaricious scum.  Just sounds like you want to generalize all athletes because it is easy to do so. Hey, generalizing a subset of a population is entirely a human thing to do.
    • This is so awesome; my two biggest lifetime hero and the biggest superstars of the past 35 years in golf……both turned out to be the two of the most despicable human beings in professional sports… Between this and everyone whoring themselves out for Saudi Arabia… Used to love golf because I thought they were smarter, better people than the other sports. Turns out a huge percentage of them are total degenerates and avaricious scum like every other sport!

    • This isn't going to show you lateral dispersion at all. It's basically just a radar (for speed) launch monitor. It doesn't measure spin or anything like that. Not even launch direction.
