hey guys. i usually play only 9 holes around once or twice a week. i usually shoot in the low 40's, sometimes hight 30's. i calculated my handicap and according to it i am a 9.41. is this accurate? the course i usually play is rated 67.8 and has a slope of 112. i calculated with the formula for a 9 hole handicap. when i do play 18 i usually score in the mid 80's

Handicap sounds right for a 9 hole handicap, that's a pretty good score as well depending on experience. One of my favorite courses is a 9 hole next to my house that I play a lot because I pay a monthly fee for unlimited play. It's a 66.4/113 rating and I'm shooting for your scores by the end of the year hopefully.

With a 67.8 rating and a slope of 112, a score of 78 would create a differential of 10.1. If you had ten of those as your best ten of your last 20, you'd have an index of 9.7. 9.41 sounds low

formula is:

(score - rating)(slope/113)= differential

(.96)(Average of ten best differentials in last twenty rounds)=index

round index to the nearest tenth

nine hole differential is same formula except the rating is half if there is not a nine hole rating

combine two nine hole differentials (nines closest by date) to get one 18 hole differential (toward your 20)

Nice scores. I play a lot on a local 9 hole, par 35 (31.1/103), and average low 40s. I've scored 40 once, but haven't broken into the 30s yet. I know I'm close. It's a matter of not going OB during the round and I'm there.
