jwat, how long is the course you normally play?

going from a 6500 yd course to a 6000 yd course can allow you to chop off some significant strokes.

It was the course I usually play, and it measured just under 6100 from the whites. I played yesterday morning, and although my approach shots were abysmal, and my putts were no where near as solid as Wednesday the 4th, I still broke 90 with an 89 haha. Once I broke 100, I never shot above 100 again, so I'm hoping the same will be true for the 90 benchmark.

Woulda been cool for sure! I left a birdie putt about an inch left of the cup on 12, so I was an inch away from skipping 80 all together. I'm still bummed about that putt because I hit a great 3H off the tee, and a spot on 60* to about 8 or 9 feet. Had a great line, just didn't quite hit it firm and straight enough and it just skirted the left edge.

I'm playing first thing Sunday morning, so we'll see how it goes! I'd say the biggest thing was my putts from inside 6'. I look at the hole in close now, and spot line from beyond 6'. I two-putted, or better, every hole except for one. I wish I could be that confident all the time. The best of it all was to make it with a birdie on 18. Two fairway shots, a GIR and an 8 footer for birdie. I was pretty sure I shot 81 or 82, then I tallied it up, twice, and it came out 80!

Nice that you weren't tracking it and were surprised by the actual score.  You have to know that things are going well, but putting a number on it can be a zone wrecker.  Keep that in mind as you continue to play.  Congrats!  I hope this happens for me soon.

Why do they call golf "golf"?  Because all the other four letter words were taken.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

Congrats man,  that is awesome that you beat it by ten strokes.  Now you can look at that one poor shot or missed but and think about how close you were to breaking 80!  lol.. Great job hopefully you will continue to keep it in the 80's.

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
