I looked back 4 pages and came up empty.

I never wear shorts on the course  (NEVER)  so I'm looking into cooler options to wear in terms of pants/shirts since the last 4 rounds I've played it has been in the mid-to-high 90's  and humid  (and I prefer to walk)

I don't want to get completely "Crazy"  and don't want to spend too much,  but I like something a little more colorful than the standard stuff.

Does anyone have the Nike Dry-Fit stuff,  or the Puma "Tech"  pants/shirts?   Do they breath very well?

I have a few pairs of underarmor shorts and they feel wonderful, light and flexible, with these and an underarmor shirt I stay totally cool during a round no matter how hot it is.

I can't speak for their long pants but I imagine they are the same

I don't think you'd go wrong with Nike, Adidas, or Puma stuff.

Nike would probably be my choice simply because I like the fit of all their clothes.

My philosophy on golf "We're not doing rocket science, here."

Why don't you wear shorts? They are even discussing allowing it on the PGA Tour. You will see them within 5 years on Tour......

I to haven't tried the pants but Adidas and Under Armour shorts and shirts are fantastic. I would also recommend wearing the Under Armour boxer briefs. They also help make a huge difference. I have some Nike shirts and those work well also.

Surprisingly, Izod makes a mean pair of golf pants. Very lightweight and comfortable. Also, they never broke the bank.

 3W-PW Reg Flex

RBZ Clone 54* Apollo Black Steel Reg Flex

Custom Bionik 504 set for crossgrip

 Cart Bag or  Stand Bag

Z Star XV or  TP Black LDP to show off

I have Nike golf pants, they breathe well and are comfortable, I would suggest also trying the Puma stuff, I have their shirts and love them, I haven't tried the pants yet, but they look very sharp.

Thanks for the suggestions.   Just to update,  I've picked up 2 pairs of Nike Dry-Fits from 'reasonable' deals online.   Some blue-striped ones,  and ones that are black with a lime-green type plaid color....

Neither one as "colorful" as I think I can get away with,  but the Puma ones apparently don't come in a size that adheres to my skinny-short-European-stature!

I wore a pair of the Nike's last time out,  and they are a VAST improvement over khakis etc.....

I'll look into the Izod.

Thanks.

http://www.duluthtrading.com/store/mens/mens-pants/mens-casual-pants/45521.aspx you can give these a look, I have the earlier model without zip legs but they are light, I mean real light and breathable. Dry extremely fast. I use them for shooting trap and skeet, dont wear shorts when shooting and these were the ticket for me. wweb belt comes with it.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
