Recently, during the last few rounds, I have a problem putting from the fringe, and long putts.

I'm hitting the ball high on the putter face, and the ball pops up.

I've never had this problem before, and it's bugging the crap out me.

Please help!!!! Any tips or drills I can do, to keep the putter head low?

My putting stroke is more of a square-to-square, than an arc open-to-close swing. Long putts there is an arc, but not much.

Seems elementary but where are you playing the ball position at? Try moving it back if it's far forward.

Also, you may be moving your body as you know you've got to give it a little extra through the fringe.

Good luck.

OMG! That's it, it's too far forward. I've always had the ball about 2 inches inside my left foot.

I can't beleive I didn't even think of that. It totally makes sense.

Thanks Pablo!

Glad that you fixed it. Now that I think about it, playing the ball too far forward could also be causing some body movement which is really bad.

Good luck!

Ya so last night I went to the practice green. Now I'm making much more solid contact, and my lag putts were also much better.

Sometimes it's just the simple things that need adjusting.

How did this happen? I don't even know. LOL

Personally, when I'm on the fringe with the ball up, I'll use an 8 iron and take the same stroke as I would to putt the ball. It goes the same distance, but takes the fringe totally out of play
