Hey y'all, after a couple weeks of merely browsing around here, I've decided to take the plunge and sign myself up.

I got back into the game about 3 months ago after a year-or-so break. Prior to the break, I played consistently for about a dozen years, but consistently was about 6-7 times a year.

In part because of reading some of the stuff here and because I've got a friend who feels the same way, I'd like to start taking the game more serious. The way I figure it, it'll be even more fun if I'm better at it.

your 'scenario' (ie: the info. you posted about your past play, break from the game, and now playing again) sounds  pretty much like mine, fellow Texan !

I was down around DFW a few weeks ago…humidity was a killer!

welcome

Thanks for the welcome. As for the humidity, it's something we've got to live with down here. Like the great Stephen Baldwin says in '8 Seconds': "You get used to it!"

Welcome!  In Houston you just have to ignore the humidity, since it's not going anywhere!  When I was at the range yesterday between rainstorms but with 95% humidity I was amazed at how my distance was affected vs. a standard sunny day.

    • Jim Furyk To Get Tough To Win Ryder Cup Back | Golf Monthly Jim Furyk says he will pick the "toughest" and "grittiest" players he can as he looks to solve the "glaring problem" preventing the USA from winning the Ryder Cup Yea, I am not a fan of the toughness talk. I do think the idea of closers might matter more. Tiger Woods, probably had the most grit of any player in history, has a losing record at the Ryder Cup. He was just not good in team formats.  I do think US needs to fix their team formats. It seems to be a historical problem. Do people over in Europe grow up playing team format golf more often? I don't get why they tend to succeed in that format. I am not sure it is a toughness question. I think toughness matters more in singles matches, where you are on your own island having to win.
