Best Grip for No Glove

Started playing with no glove, what are the best grips for tackiness without a glove? I play in a humid climate during summer days.

GripMaster Leather grips tacky as hell.  When the tacky-ness starts to fade wipe it down with a wet towel instantly tacky again.  On insanely hot and humid days I will put on a glove.  This year has been record heat and I have found the urge to do that twice but not for the whole round.

I am in my first season playing them and they will last at least 2 years if not more.

They are pricy but Ii would destroy a few gloves a year at least. and a set of grips.  As you play these get more and more tacky.

Different strokes for different folks, but I started with no glove and the grips on my clubs were vintage (i.e. slick and hard as a rock).  The slight imperfections in them provided more grip than smooth tacky rubber - in my opinion - because they did't get any slicker or harder when wet. They required the same grip pressure on a sunny day or in the rain. Then I got a new set with tacky(ish - it was the 80s) grips and never got off the tacky grip bandwagon until going back to gloveless in the mid 90s. I experimented with tour velvets and countless other soft and tacky grips and never was satisfied. Then I bought a set of used sticks that had full cords in decent shape. They were Golf Pride tour velvet full cord - a complete oxymoron and totally awesome. Tried a few full cord versions since then and even dabbled in 1/2 cords for awhile (worst grips ever - not even close).

Bottom line - it's all personal, but I found that for me a quality set of full cords (currently enamoured with GP Players Softie Full Cord - rumoured to be discontinued but the local independent golf shop in Red Deer still carries them) combined with solid ball striking was the the road to weaning myself off the glove forever.

These are my favorite grips ever: http://www.stargrip.com/cgi-bin/SmootheeGrip.exe Star Grip used to be GripTec back in the 90's, they tried becoming a big name, but couldn't compete against the likes of Golf Pride... The same couple own the business now under the Star Grip name. Those Smoothie grips are awesome. I had the same set on my DCI's from 1997 until a week ago when I got my new Tour Preferred irons. The grips made it through almost 15 years of 2-3 rounds per month golf, plus the range and still feel great and aren't worn out. I go gloveless on most shots from PW in, so I like the feel and the fact that they don't tear up my hands...

I stopped using a glove earlier this year once I went with the Winn DriTac grips.  They are pretty solid - but I live in Socal so the humidity isn't bad.  So I'm not sure how they would do in high humidity?  Maybe give them a look?

I've identified what my next set of grips are going to be - which replace my DriTac's... And it will be the Iomic Sticky 1.8 grips.  They are pretty expensive, but are very tacky and feel great.  So when I get my clubs re-gripped, this is what I plan to migrate / transition over to.

I use DriTacs as well and I live in very humid north central Florida.

Here's an anecdote in support of them.

I usually keep a club or two on the back porch for practicing during the week.  I always keep an old Callaway PW out there with a stock grip, and I usually have one or two gamer irons out there that have the DriTac grips.  I will be working on my swing sometimes on a hot day and not even realize that my hands are really seating with the DriTacs, but then if I switch to that old Callaway PW, I can't even swing it because I'm afraid I'm going to lose the grip.  THAT is how I know the DriTac grips are working for me.  Oh, and I also never wear a glove.

Don't know about "best" but I love my Iomic Sticky 2.3's in all weather -- including hot and humid.
