  1. 1. Would you rather have a solid and steady Top 5 finish without ever leading or blow the lead on the closing 9 and finish outside the top 10

    • Steady top 5
      7
    • Leader with 9 to go finishing outside the top 10
      2

Thoughts?

Long term I'd probably rather have Rory's resume, but suspect Luke had a more restful sleep immediately after the 2011 Masters. It was one week.

To me, the advantage of being in the lead is getting to experience that kind of pressure and learn how to deal better with it.  This seems to have been the case for a player like Nick Faldo who had the nickname "Foldo" early in his career.  However, I think it can be a fine line between learning from your mistakes and losing confidence in yourself to close the deal when the pressure is greatest.

Rory has been strong enough to bounce back and win 2 majors by a wide margin, so it could be said that the Masters was a learning experience for him.  To fully eradicate any potentially lingering demons, Rory will need to win at Augusta.

Other players have never seemed to bounce back from near misses.

If having the lead with 9 to go would eventually result in a win, that's what I would choose. If on the other hand I would never win, arrgh.

If you want to be a champion, you need experiences like Rory's.  Rory has since won 2 majors...........

On the other hand, Luke is a slug that is only good for top-10's.    Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather be a champion
