If the lie is correct, choke up. If the lie needs to be changed, you may be able to have them bent to the correct lie for you. Option #2 is get them re-shafted and bent to the correct lie. Option #3 is to start over and get new clubs. You will do your self a great favor if your clubs fit you in terms of lie and length.

If you learn to play with clubs that do no fit, you will learn swing compensations that will be hard to change.

      Yes.  Did he not hit the range before the round? When my first few pre-round drives aren't what I expect, the first thing I check is my driver settings, in case they changed.  I am on my second adjustable driver and I am still not trusting that golf gremlins don't change it between rounds. The second thing I check is my alignment and setup, and that is far more often the culprit than my settings. In any case, there are some simple things that I imagine should be on a professional player's pre-round checklist that I am surprised when they aren't.  One of those is the settings for any adjustable clubs.
