At what specific point do u let ur hips fly open and at wat point do u start the speed in your swing I ahave read that during ur swing your club head gains speed all the way into the finish . At what point do you really turn it on Thanks for the help

Different swing thoughts work for different people.  Above all else I have to stay connected.  For me I really try my hardest to swing with my torso.  When I become arms dominent I come over the top and leave the face open.  I fire really hard with my hips and torso only after I have completed my backswing.  I actually have incorperated a slight pause at the top of my backswing that has really improved my consistency.

So, to make a long answer short, for me I fire my hips and torso only after a completed backswing and slight pause.  I hope this helps.  Think smooth...It works for Ernie E. and Louis O.

I appreciate that when fire the hips that way it produces a slice or a push. Ive also been told by an instructor that im to quick on my downswing i wasnt to sure wat that meant. I also feel like i drop my back shoulder to much wen i try this way My current swing thought is holding my hips long as possible before impact then firing them i feel like i am loosing power this way but im not sure. I hit it straight this way but im not so sure im hitting it with out using all arms any advice on this

I know exactly what your instructor meant b/c I have had the same issue.  If you are too quick in transition your hips will outrace your shoulders/arms to the point that you cannot square the clubface at impact.  I still fire my hips pretty hard at the ball, but I make sure that I allow time for my arms to square the clubface.  I almost pause at the top.  You might try this.  It may not work for everybody, but it works for me.  Almost all my poor shots are when my tempo is too quick.

    • Yes.  Did he not hit the range before the round? When my first few pre-round drives aren't what I expect, the first thing I check is my driver settings, in case they changed.  I am on my second adjustable driver and I am still not trusting that golf gremlins don't change it between rounds. The second thing I check is my alignment and setup, and that is far more often the culprit than my settings. In any case, there are some simple things that I imagine should be on a professional player's pre-round checklist that I am surprised when they aren't.  One of those is the settings for any adjustable clubs.
    • It was also set at B1 at a previous event, and… so there's dubiousness around whether he's telling the truth (again).
