watching you two go back and forth is hilarious. Each one quoting the other and nitpicking every detail of what they say. Get a life and go play some f$&king; golf.

I guess all those practice sessions didn't help me this year then when I was working on my balance. Doing the "feet together" drill had nothing to do with the fact I'm hitting the ball better this year than I ever have...

Just luck I guess.

We're all entitled to our opinions. Nobody here is going to suppress that...and don't leave the form because there's some diagreement. Anyway, if you're right, then golf is even more of a mental game than I thought because I've fooled myself into thinking that drill helps my balance...so I'm just going to keep doing it.

Fairways and Greens.

Hee hee.. if it works for you, then by all means.

It would probably surprise some of you to know I HAVE told some of my students to put their feet together to eliminate a certain aspet and allow them to focus on release. My problem with the feet together is how it's supposed to help you balance. That just makes absolutely no sense. You have an equilibrium that automatically keeps you in balance. I know I'm just blowing into the wind here but just because it's widely accepted doesn't make it true. I think you're improving because of something else that the drill is making you do.. but certainly not balance. And in that respect yes, you have tricked yourself. You wouldn't be the first person.

Equipment, Setup, Finish, Balance, and Relax. All equal in importance and all dependent on each other. They are the cornerstones of a good golf swing.

    • I'll say again… you have a different definition of "temporary" and "speed" than I do. For your handicap to go up FOUR shots means you were through the soft cap and approaching the hard cap. If you did it over 15 rounds (leaving five potentially lower scores), then you played REALLY bad golf over that stretch because it's likely that only three or four of the best of those 15 rounds were actually counted, so if the three or four best scores RAISED your handicap five shots (three at 100%, 2 at 50% once you hit the soft cap), then that's some BAD golf over an extended (not temporary) period of time. And here's the thing… play 15 good rounds, or even just EIGHT, and it'll DROP again, even faster. Handicaps still drop faster than they rise, not only because of the way we calculate it (best 😎 but because of the caps. Right… it's not like you're not needing the shots. You're playing really badly, and your handicap is still lagging behind your play.
