I'm desperately in need of a new hybrid. Right now I have $110, but my dad says he'll pay for some of it. The most we'd be willing to spend is about $150, or so. These are the hybrids I was looking at:

Any other suggestions? Which of the clubs I listed would be the best for a new guy golfing? Thanks for any help.

Because of your handicap and, perhaps in spite of it, I would strongly recommend you try the Cobra Baffler - either this year's model, the DWS, which sells for $149, or last year's model, which sells for about $119. These are easy to hit hybrids with Aldila NV-HL shafts. I have them and love them. Also the Callaway Heavenwoods are still available and only cost about $129. They are also excellent. I did not check out your links, so you may already have my recommendations in your mix. Nonetheless, try before you buy. Good luck.

I am intrigued.. Why would you talk a feller out of a confidence club? Especially when he sound like a young cat? Not trying to be argumentative, just curious what opinion is of hybrids?

Mike BTW, my 3 iron cost me at least 1 stroke per round, I am contemplating it as well..

I started playing 3 years ago and use both versions of the Nike and have excellent success with both. My handicap went from 30's to 20 over that time in great part due to the hybrid.

I don't see it as a confidence club - it turns my long game into mush. I'm in a very small minority here it seems, but my 3 iron is so money, and I wouldn't give it up for any hybrid in the world. I can crank it 230 down the middle, whilst the last hybrid I tried would pop weakly into the air and go...160 yards. If I didn't severely mishit it. I bet hybrids cost me 2 or 3 strokes a round before I put my 3 iron back in my bag.

If I could find a 1 and 2 iron for my set of clubs, I would put them in my bag and get rid of my fairway woods.

I wish I had your problem!!

1 Stroke per round is alot for me right now. I am hitting about 90% of my shots perfect right now, but cannot get the 3 to work without changing my backswing a little. Not sure if I want to go down that road. Mike

I really understand why people think you're full of it when you say you shot 78 (or whatever) and then the next day you shot 97 (or whatever) but hit 11 greens in regulation. Uh huh. Sure.

I have a 17° 585.H. It replaced my 2-iron . I don't carry a 5W. My 3-iron is pretty good, so I have no plans to replace it.

Well, then, if you don't believe what happens to my round, eh, that's your problem. In all honesty though, I seriously cannot chip or putt, which, even with a good long game, leads to an ugly score.

It's not my "problem." If you're that bad, stop posting here and go practice or something.

I've seen at least two threads now with you bragging about how you nut your 3 iron 230 yards down the middle every time. That seems odd given your handicap.
