I have noticed my head movement is quite significant, I have quite a bad slice at times and I'm thinking it may have something to do with my head movement.

My head will move up then down a bit during the back swing and just before hitting the ball it will move into my body and down, what effects could this have?

- Poor contact.

- Path compensations.

- Lack of clubface control.

Other than that not much at all!

In general, slight up and down movement is not bad.  A good swing will often contain a "squat" into the backswing and a straightening up at or after contact.  Swaying horizontally forward or backwards is generally bad.

This is a video of me hitting a ball, what kind of effect would that head movement have on the ball, and can you spot anything that would cause a slice.

Your rhythm looks good.

Almost all pros head drops in the downswing, but usually head stays down well into impact before it starts lifting up again in the follow through.

You are coming out of posture at the top of the backswing and lifting your shoulders and head.

I think this may be a result of trying to hard to get maximum turn in the back swing.

Pros keeps their spine constant , your spine angle "bobs" up and down at the top of the swing.

Instead of trying so hard with the shoulder turn upwards on the backswing, try to turn your shoulders along a flatter plane.

Thank you for your reply, I will have a go at the range tomorrow and see if I can reduce the activity in my shoulder movement at the end of the swing. Do you think that could contribute the a slice?

It's always hard for experts (not me) to diagnose a swing problem without seeing two views:  down the line and from in front.  The front view allows them to see your grip, weight shift and other facets.  So, if you video at the range again, make sure to get videos of both views.
