Proper shaft for AP2 Iron?

My 8-iron lost a battle with a tree during an attempted left-handed flipped-over escape shot nestled against the base of said tree.  I've got KBS-Tour stiff shafts.  Looking at Golfsmith...lots of options.  I'm assuming it's just a Tour .355 taper tip, but how can I tell?  Also, it wants me to put in the length...I thought the iron shafts came in a single length and they were trimmed depending on the club?

The KBS Shafts are sorted by stiffness, making them all exactly the same stiffness, but different weights. You need to specify a length because if this sorting method were used, it would be pointless as soon as you trimmed it (your shorter clubs would be stiffer than your longer ones). The reason other shafts are trimmed is because they are sorted by weight instead of stiffness, causing a variance in the flex of the shaft, but a consistent weight + or - what was changed when you trimmed it. Project X is similar to KBS in that they are also sorted by stiffness instead of weight. If my memory is correct, the only current shaft that is widely used a sorted by weight is the Dynamic Gold ones, or any other True Temper shaft.

I love Golfsmith, but I would never buy clubs, get them fitted, etc hitting into a net. I don't care what their computers say.

Go to a reputable driving range/pro shop where they have an expert club fitter.

Most reputable places go through exhaustive measures to make you're fitted properly. The guy near me has a great reputation, and when i decided on my set.....we spent 45 minutes hitting balls testing everything-  weight, feel, length, loft, stiffness, you get the idea. We even used data on his computer to precisely get me fitted properly.

I felt confident in my purchase, mostly because you can see your ball flight.

I would never buy a club hitting into a net.

What does all this do with simply replacing a broken shaft in a set?    The OP isn't asking to get whole new different set of shafts; all this stuff about hitting into a net, etc. makes no sense here.

K-troop, yes the AP2s use a 0.355 taper tip shaft.    And yes, they're set by length individually so there is consistent stiffness across the set regardless of length, so when ordering replacements you spec the same length from what you had previously.

The GolfWorks catalog has the following listings for KBS Tour shafts:

Iron-Parallel = 43" / .370" tip

Iron-Taper = 37.5" - 41.5" / .355" tip

The taper comes pre-cut (tipped) to length; standard length for AP2 8i shaft = 36.5"

(I'm not sure if club repairer has to do final butt trim or not). You might contact KBS on this.

The Titleist 2012 Clubs brochure doesn't say if AP2 takes parallel or taper shaft. You might call Titleist if you're not sure.
