Going to reconfigure my wedge situation. I'm probably going with 50, 54, and 58 degree clubs. I noticed on the website that Titleist doesn't offer anything below a 54* wedge. I like my CG10s, but might go with CG12s or Spin Milled Vokeys. Tell me what you can about features of each and any pros and cons.

Thanks a lot!
Ryan

I wanted to get a 52° Spin Milled but you're 100% right, they don't offer one.

I got the Series 200 52° and the Spin Milled 56° and 60° and they are amazing. The look great at address (inspires confidence for me) and they really get the job done. I'm not a real digger and I don't put tons of spin on the ball, so I think they work well for my game and I manage to keep my chips, lobs and other close approach shots from rolling off the green, so I'd have to give them a thumbs up. I really can't compare them to anything other than my previous wedge, a Cleveland gunmetal tour action, 56° which was also an amazing club. I really didn't want to take it out of my bag, I've hit so many great shots with it over the years, even holed out a few chips here and there, but I had to let go and go for the new Titleist Vokey. Again, I never back-spun balls off the front of the green or even to the fringe, but the Cleveland had a soft feel and landed balls nicely on the green as well. I'm glad I went with the Vokeys though!

I ran into the same situation with the lack of a 52 vokey. the solution is to buy a 54 and have it bent to 52. The bending reduces the bounce and it's a nice club. I think the bending was like $2.50

I ask why wouldn't you? I love the 52 into any up slope green. You can hit your chips a little harder and they check up nice.

the game has changed with the new balls and clubs. it used to be hit the driver low and the wedges high, Now it's hit driver high and wedges low. A low wedge better have some spin.

I have the 50 54 and 60 degree Clevelands in Gunmetal...have been tossing around getting the spin milled. You can get the extra bounce 54 with 14 degrees of bounce and bend it to 50 and have a 50-10, which is pretty much what their 50 degree would be anyway. I just don't think I'd hit them any better than my Clevelands, so I haven't switched yet.

I am currently using 52 and 58 set up both Vokeys. I emailed Titleist as to why they did not produce 52 degrees with Spin Milled and they replied that it would eat up the balls too quickly at that angle. They then suggest me to try the Vokey 200 Series and I was skeptical at first thinking that they are just trying to make a sale or something... But trust me... 52 degree Vokey 200 series puts PLENTY of spin already without the milling... Soft feel with enough spin.

That's a great piece of info from Titleist...thanks for sharing that. That'll be a fun one to break out around the clubhouse.

I've got both a cg10 and a spin milled wedge, kinda to see which i liked more for when i eventually get new ones. They are really both good clubs. The spin milled seem to spin more then the cg10, but i have much better feel and distance control with the cg10. Right now i would advice getting the cg10s because they are soo much cheaper now because of the cg12s.

I want a new 60 but I just don't want to pay a lot for one. LOL. I would love to get a cg10 or 11 for around 65$ but I don't think i got a chance.

I have actually been playing with Tour Action 588s for sand and lob wedge and really liking them.

I don't put a lot of spin on the ball most of the time except on shots closer to a full swing (such as a half-wedge), but I have impeccable distance control and can make the ball do a variety of things.

I have the CG 10s and was actually thinking about the CG 12s. I like the 10s but I'm going to change the lofts on my wedges and I'll have three now. Going with either the Vokeys or the CG12s...thanks for the input, keep it coming!

From what I read (somewhere, I've forgotten) it says that CG12 put less stress on the ball. Which I think means Vokey SM and CG12 Zip Grooves are quite similar in creating spin due the milling process, but CG12 damages the ball less and it is available in 52 deg. Now isn't that a good news?

sounds like a lot of you are upgrading your cleveland wedges. if you want to give me a good deal for your old 52* 2 dot cg10 or 12 pm me. our golf store has crazy high prices on their used wedges.

Couple of the guys have had cancer, heart issues and strokes but still doing the best they can. But not what they used to. Some are where they probably should just play nine holes because at about fifteen they are starting to struggle quite a bit. My scores are creeping up each year, don’t like it but it’s better than sitting in the recliner. Good luck.
