Sorry I had to hit up three posts before I could make a thread!! I am a new golfer, just started about three months ago, I got into it mainly for work, and bc I was tired of breaking bones and getting hurt (snowboarding/motocross) but now I love it. I never would have thought I would have liked it as much as I do, I usually am into going fast and catching big air, but the thrill of a good shot (even though mine are few) is almost as much fun as hitting 50 footer on my snowboard. I sold most my dirtbikes and I am hooked on playing. I still stink pretty bad, but love going out. Just wanted to say hello and hopefully I can learn somethings from here. Take it easy

You enjoy yourself now. Stinking isn't so bad. My first few regulation rounds were in the 160 range. Now I'm threatening double-digit scores, any round now. It's great that you're focusing on the good shots. Those are why you play. I had 9 holes of bad shots yesterday, then 9 holes of decent shots, capped off by a lob wedge to within inches of the pin for a kick-in par. I tell this story not (only) to brag, but because you probably have a great shot or two you can think of. Remember it when you play, and it'll find friends in your memories. Let us know how it goes!

YOU SOLD MOST OF YOUR DIRTBIKES?!

Good lord man, you can't do both? I (re)took up golf a few months ago but still keep 6 bikes in the garage and my wife and I both still race regularly. C'mon, you can do it too! And if motocross is too tough on the bod, take up trials!

Lol...and don't worry, EVERYBODY stinks bad at golf at first. But that will change - especially if you have fun. That's the best incentive.

Good luck!

Tom

    • Day 233 (22 Dec 24) - Very late afternoon session (after watching the PNC finish - much more entertaining than the Showdown) with the 50deg, hitting nippy low flighted chips.  Really focused on foot position and keeping swing smooth.   As light was fading fast and temps were heading south of freezing, session was pretty abbreviated.
    • Tiger’s walking at the PNC and people say he’s not limping.
    • I haven't heard much of anything about it. Faux leather, sure. Biodegradable leather? No. No idea. You're a bit too new, still, to post links.
    • Okay, I'm genuinely curious about this "biodegradable leather" trend in golf. Are we talking snake oil here? I mean, golf balls, clubs... they all end up in the water eventually. Is this just greenwashing, or is there actually a real environmental benefit? And honestly, does it even perform as well as traditional leather? I don't want to sacrifice distance for the planet, you know? Anyone with real-world experience with these eco-friendly golf goods? Spill the tea!
