I've been Playing Golf for: Give or take 5 years (3 seriously trying to improve)

My current handicap index or average score is: 15 or so handicap

My typical ball flight is: High

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: All misses  :) I typically miss with a fade with my current swing.

Where I think i'm at:  I feel I have the potential to be a decent player. I played college baseball (pitcher). I am battling a flip/cast/early release at impact and have been trying to eliminate it and as a result improve my ball striking and also distance with my clubs. My driver ss is just under 110 mph. I am only capable most times of hitting my best 8 iron 150 yards. Let me know what you think...thanks!

Your wrist cocks very late compared to a lot of swings. It's not  a "swing killer" but it's easier to hold the wrist cock and not flip it if you cock the wrist earlier.

Driver: 10.5* callaway Razr Hawk Tour - 350 yards(usually into the wind, it can be windy here. at least 400 with a little wind behind me)

Hybrids: 2 and 3 callaway Hybrid razr tour (312 and 287 respectively)

Irons: 3i-10i callaway forged standard length(278, 263, 250, 235, 221, 213, 201, 190)

Wedges: callaway jaws cc 52* 12 approach, 56* 16 sand, 60* 13 lob (0-185)

Odyssey Black tour #9 putter(5 ft, i'm always at least within 5 feet on my approach shot)

I wonder who on this forum is a PGA tour pro, disguised as a normal player..

Flippin? really? It just doesn't look like it'd be a big problem to me. The only thing I'd say is that the swing's too long and it looks like there's very little acceleration from your horizontal club position to contact. So the swing looks like it's maxed out(speed wise) well before contact.

Have you used a resistance club like a swing fan or "lag rag" (google that)before? That'l give you the feeling of making power in the last half of your downswing. Give it a go.

Also, when you start to get a bit more grunt into that last bit of your swing, you'll be able to get rid of that "John Daly" extended back swing.

Also, you've got a good swing

Taking the above advice may lead to destruction of your golf game. Laughing at it may reduce stress.

I agree with all that. Looking back it doesn't really seem like you're flipping, maybe the tiniest bit too soon but nothing that is a problem. I think the length of your swing is a problem, the right elbow is getting too far behind and can't "catch up" by impact, so it comes out to in

    • I think 95% is more accurate. The leader of our course rating program shot from the hip and said 90%, but I recently read elsewhere that it is more like 95%. So we spend 4 hours or more on a course with a team of 6 to 8 people to figure out the last few rating strokes as to whether they exist or not due to difficulty. I credit this site/forum for getting my interest up in volunteering for my state association. I am marshalling for the US Mid Am qualifier later this morning 15 min from my home. We get shirts, hats, 1/4 zips, a cart with our name on it, a radio, lunch and unlimited snacks all while watching some great golfers. πŸ™‚

    • Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).
