...and actually paid attention to it. If so, they would notice that I'm on my third driver since joining this forum! This will be my last for awhile. I picked up a TaylorMade R580 at a local course pro-shop for $159, new in wrap. I'll be headed to the driving range this evening.

My wife says I'm turning into Arnie. I got my garage turned into a workshop and dozens of clubs in my office. I'm always changing clubs depending on my mood or the course I'm playing. Maybe I'm subconciously blaming my clubs ;)

I don't want a bunch of clubs, but I wouldn't mind being like Arnie and having a full workshop in my garage. That'd be nice!

It's not that I disliked any of them, I was working my way up to a better, longer lasting one. I started with a K-Mart driver. I then found a like new Top Flite in a used sporting goods store for 25 bucks. Then, yesterday, I thought the price on the TaylorMade was in my range, so I added that to my bag.

...I was working my way up to a better one...

I went the other way

Started with 510TP (very nice), friernd convinced me to get Ping G2 (didn't like), from there I got crazy about "tour only" equipment, got the 580XD and 510TP both tour edition... and had to get rid of them, since I wasn't good enough to play them (tour drivers are set neutral to 2deg open, so I was slicing the living jesus with them ), finally supported by a $600 win in Atlantic City casino I got the r7 TP and this one will stay in the bag for a while. So far these experiments cost me about $50 a club (gotta love eBay ), so it wasn't that bad. My wife hates me though, but that would happend regradless of number of drivers I'm buying.

Having a work shop is not all its cracked up to be.

Last summer i was testing 2-4 driver combos a week! Its great that you get to try out all the shaft and head combos, but it sure makes it tough to groove that one driver for the starting line up in your bag! Who am i kidding..........having a workshop is absolutely killer!!!!!

    • Day 33 (13 Dec 25) - Worked on weight shift and resetting the left heel during downswing (after listening to a discussion on Golf School this morning on PGA Tour Radio).  It centered on how Jack Nicklaus lifted his lead heel and how long driver champs do as well.  Taking cues from that discussion, worked an exaggerated feel of the left heel working doing some swing drill in the backyard using the 7i.  Wrapped up the session by hitting a few low bump and run shots in the backyard - keeping the process slow and exaggerated.
    • Day 123 12-13 Rotation and getting to lead side work. Recorded face on. Hit a few foam balls but did plenty of rehearsals today.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
