Yes. AoA is angle of attack.

Ok, so if I have a club with a dynamic loft of 30* and an AoA of 2* how do I increase the spin if the dynamic loft does not change, since I have read that a more negative AoA does not change the spin rate if the loft is the same. Also is it true that hitting up on the ball with a driver does not decrease the spin rate, its more where you hit it on the face, high on the face will decrease spin and lower on the face will increase spin.

Spin loft is very simple.

Assuming the same contact and clubhead speed and a matching face/path and all that

1) Delivered loft of 25, AoA of -2 = Spin Loft of 27°.

2) Delivered loft of 25, AoA of -6 = Spin Loft of 31°.

You can hit up on the driver but keep delivered loft down to reduce spin. Again:

1) Delivered loft of 10, AoA of -2 = Spin Loft of 12°.

2) Delivered loft of 10, AoA of +5 = Spin Loft of 5°.

Yes, vertical gear affect can ALSO affect spin rates, but again, we're talking about same contact, clubhead speed, yada yada etc. etc.

    • Well, not a fairway, but not in trouble either.  That's a start.
    • https://thesandtrap.com/b/playing_tips/filming_your_swing It helps too if: we can see all of you (and at least most of the clubhead's travel) you trim away the stuff that isn't your swing From what I could see this topic might benefit you:
    • They're over-rated, yes, but I don't know that he can continue to drive it that well and have alleyways and so on through the trees.
    • Let's hope the 90th in driving accuracy and his sometimes loose iron shots (hooks, pushes) don't end up as his undoing too though. I doubt it happens, but that stat is a possible harbinger. His short game/putting has been somewhat unsustainable.  Just playing devil's advocate here. I agree on this course especially ending up in the 1st or 2nd cuts doesn't mean much. And when he's been in the pine straw he's been able to wedge his 3rd decently close and then make the putt.  But I find it unlikely he collapses given his driving is his strength and he's due to stripe them down the middle today. Just saying tho.
