okay I've got a fairly new set of clubs which include R11 graphite shaft in irons up to pitching wedge and a 50 degree and 56 degree TaylorMade ATV wedges. and I notice today I have at least a 25-yard gap between the pitching wedge and the 50 degree wedge. I am wondering if anyone thinks that switching to graphite shafts in my wedges would close that gap to match the graphite shafts in my irons. By the way I played pretty well today I shot a 94 which is the second time in a roll I've been under a 100 I had a goall beginning of this year to score under 100 and I did two times in a row already so I'm pretty happy

Make sure you aren't flipping with the shortest clubs before you go to the trouble of changing shafts.

Easy to let the club head catch up with (or God forbid, pass) the hands before impact with wedges. I had that problem when I first started playing and couldn't hit a sand wedge over 80 yards to save my life. I was almost to the point of thinking it was impossible to get more distance with it before I finally figured out what I was doing wrong.

Since I didn't have that problem (for some unknown reason) with a pitching wedge, and I didn't carry a gap wedge at that time, I had a HUGE gap.  Now I only run into a problem when the darn thing goes farther than it's supposed to go. Ha ha!

Had 100 yards on the number to the middle of an island green Saturday and I thought a smooth sand wedge would be perfect. Thought I hit the perfect shot right at the flag and it flew the entire green into the water.

All that said, I do have the same shafts in all of my irons, including the 52* and 56*. I don't in my 60* but I rarely carry that club anyway.

great suggestion thank you. I do have that problem from time to time in flipping my wrists. Are you using iron or graphite shafts.

I have steel shafts. Project X 6.0 rifle shafts.

      I say this in believing the guy should just pay you and he's a d**k for not.  Do you guys play by the USGA rules strictly? If so, then the claim is valid. It sucks, but it is. Again, he is a d**k for being that nitpicky over it. If he wants to play the game of waiting for you to finish to have his ah-ha moment, again he's a d**k. Though, if the putter is non-conforming, you maybe able to claim that it is not a club?  Just talk to your group and don't invite him back.

      Couple of added points.  It was pink and maybe 18 long.  I am 6 1   And he waited until the round was over to say something when he was in my 4 some in the other cart.

      I would have paid you. I think it's a reasonable assumption that the extra putter was not in play.  Having said that "Did you declare the extra putter out of play?"  This person seems like a bit of a weenie and he is also setting a dangerous precedent. Let's say he wins next month. Then when it's your turn to pay up, you could refuse. Telling him "I timed you on hole 8 and you searched for your ball and found it at 3 minutes and 1 second. So, you should have taken stroke, plus distance and didn't." You could then show him your stopwatch feature on your phone where you timed it out to 3:01 and say "See."  I actually would just let it go and assume the guy is a weenie. Because doing stuff like that takes the fun out of friendly bets. If he can't afford to pay up, he shouldn't bet.
