I voted 3-5 iron. My driver and 3 wood misses aren't as bad that I can't find the ball off the tee. For the 3-5 iron I always tend to miss hit whether it's fat, thin, or hard pushes to push slices off the tee, in the fairway, or any other kind of lie.

Best Regards,
Ryan

Putter. When it's hot, I shoot in the mid 70's; when it's not, I shoot in the mid 80's. The reason why there's such a gap is because whenever I 3-putt a hole or miss a short putt, I hit a bad tee shot on the next hole. All mental.

When you play to a 12, all of them. I would estimate that half the time I don't make par it's due to one squirrelly shot on that particular hole. Errant drive, thin approach, chunked wedge etc. Rare to hit two in a row. That's the frustration of it. At the end of each round I can look back at the card and pinpoint exactly where the lost shots were. It's always just 3-5 shots a side that are just toally blown. Once in a while a missed kick in bites me so even the putter figures into it.

I feel you brother... At least when I was an 18+ I expected some bad shots. This 10-13 range is driving me nuts. 90% of my shots are great, low single digit caliber. I'm taking divots, compressing the ball, can work it left and right, my short game is solid if not good, and my putting has its ups and downs but very limited 3 putts if any in a round. It's that 10%. That draw I over cook and leave myself with no shot. It's the drive that I don't get through and block one out OB and the 2 or 3 other shots per round that compound into a blowup on 1 or 2 holes combined with a spattering of bogeys.

I'm definitely going driver here. It's not that I miss hit it necessarily more often than the occasional iron, wedge or putt, but when I miss it, I really miss it. The ball's either OB or way out of scoring position. At least when I miss hit another club, I'm almost always in a position where getting up and down is at least possible.

I've tried TaylorMade, Ping, Titleist, Mizuno, Wilson, Ben Hogan, Callaway, and I'm sure a few other brand of drivers, so I don't think that buying a new driver is the solution. To be truthful, the driver is not my most inconsistent club, (all clubs are relatively similar in consistency), but the act of driving the ball has the largest margin of error for me in comparison to my swings for fairway woods, irons, wedges, and putts. :)

Drivers: Bag 1 - TM R11 (10.5°); Bag 2 - Ping G5 (9°),
Fairway woods: #1 - TM RBZ Tour (14.5°) & TM System 2 Raylor (17°); #2 - TM Burner (15°) & TM V-Steel (18°)
Hybrid: #1 - TM Rocketballz (19°); #2 - Ping G5 (19°)
Irons: #1 - Ping i3+; #2 - Hogan Edge  (both 4-pw, +1" shaft)
Wedges: #1 - Ping i3+ U wedge (52°) & Ping Eye 2+ BeCu (60°); #2 - Ping ISI Sand BeCu (52°) & Cleveland CG11 lob (60°)
Putters: Ping B60i & Anser 2, Odyssey White Steel 2-Ball & White Hot XG #9, Lamkim Jumbp grips
Golf Balls: Titleist Pro V1, Bridgestone B330, Callaway SR1, Slazenger Grips: Lamkin Crossline
Golf Shoes: Footjoy & Adidas; Golf Glove: Footjoy StaSof®; Golf Bag: Ping Hoofer
I love this game! :-D

From 60-70 yards in to the green, I am just as liable to hit one straight right as I am at the green...

I cannot control anything in my short game...

On another note, any suggestions as to why everything I hit with a wedge is heading straight right??? I know the easy fix is head down, but I feel like I'm doing that!!!

That sounds like you are hitting it with the shank.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
