I'm a beginner with flashes of greatness (in my mind )

I hooked my first 30 hits today. I finally realized I was somehow closing out the face on the club head. Most of my next shots were beautiful.

I can't tell if it's the grip or if I'm just screwing something up on the backswing. It seemed to be the grip because once I started hitting the ball right the club and grip felt different and I could mostly tell when I was about to hit it square on or when it was off.

Any comments?

Its most likely your wrist action when your coming down, try keeping your wrists straight. Also it could be something with your mid body. If you could take a video we could help you more.
