I bought new clubs as a beginner18mths ago from Gigagolf and took advantage of the efit system so am pretty happy my clubs are technically OK for my dimensions or atleast in the ball park. I'm now off 18 and play a couple times a month and practice 2-3 times a week at the range. I'm thinking about buying new clubs... My question is that if I get fitted for new clubs will that aid me in making better more consistent contact with the ball or will it mostly help with control and accuracy - given that my current club specs are right for me based on static measurements atleast (height and reach). Current clubs are quarter inch longer and negative 1 lie. Thanks, J

Agree, it can help both.

However, for the same (probably less) money, several lessons with a good instructor could help you more. And you would be in a better position with your swing for getting properly fitted. I also may turn out that what you have will do you for quite a while longer.

      I think 95% is more accurate. The leader of our course rating program shot from the hip and said 90%, but I recently read elsewhere that it is more like 95%. So we spend 4 hours or more on a course with a team of 6 to 8 people to figure out the last few rating strokes as to whether they exist or not due to difficulty. I credit this site/forum for getting my interest up in volunteering for my state association. I am marshalling for the US Mid Am qualifier later this morning 15 min from my home. We get shirts, hats, 1/4 zips, a cart with our name on it, a radio, lunch and unlimited snacks all while watching some great golfers. 🙂

      Day 2: August 12.  I did 25 balls of the ruler drill from LSW for putting.  24 of the 25 stayed on the ruler through 36" but some were smoother than others.  I suspect if the ruler (and goal) had been 48" far fewer would have stayed on.  I'm trying to go by sound, and not look, since when I attempt short putts, I don't want to look (although now I wonder if that's conventional wisdom that turns out to be wrong).
