I really like the Golf Pride Multi compound red and black grips, they seem really good, but they are just wayy to expensive...for like 10 or so grips it's going to cost me about 70 dollars? that's absurd....right now my irons are about a year old but really need to be regripped. They were previously my dad's irons and he used them a TON over the past year. The irons keep slipping out of my hand and I keep hooking them like crazy because I can feel them turn in my hand.

Are there any other grips out there besides Golf Pride. Maybe Winn? Do they make any type of "harder" grip? I don't want something soft because I got the Golf Pride DD2's on my old irons and they weren't too good for the hot weather either.

I think in most cases, Winn would probably be more expensive actually. In my mind, I've always been a firm believer in you get what you pay for, I paid for the multi-compounds, put them on everything other than my putter, and I love them.

That being said, there are plenty of grips that aren't quite as much that are still great in their own right. The Lamkin Crossline and Golfpride Tour Velvet are both excellent, time tested grips, that are available corded.

It's too much. For a firm winn grip of 11 of them it will run me about 50 bucks...I don't need any equipment besides the grips.

I bought a 4-iron recently with a GripOne on it and really sticks to my hand, wet or dry. It really allowed me to relax my grip. Very reasonably priced. What I don't know is how long they last. I'm considering replacing all my grips with it.

Yeah, some places even cheaper then that. I think I'm going with that or the Taylor Made standard RAC grips (which are already on the clubs.)

thx for the help!!

Stay away from the TaylorMade TGT grips at all cost. They are the worst grips on the market by far. First thing I do every time I buy a TM club is re-grip it. GolfPride Tour Velvet are great grips and cheap, but nothing replaces the Multi-Compound.

You might want to check here for cheap Multi Compound grips. The 13-piece of them without kit (grips only) go for around $55 excluding shipping.

I'd like to make a recommendation for you to try on Iomic grips. They last longer than regular grips and they're not made of rubber. Usable on wet and dry condition. Although they're more expensive, like stated above they last longer so you don't need to re-grip too often which in the end will cost you more. I urge you to try at least one Iomic on your driver or whatever club you want and see how it works for you.

Ouch. For $16 ea. they better last about 10 years or more to be cost competitive with with the Tour Velvets I use (about $2.50 ea.). I'm pretty easy on grips, keep them clean and conditioned and I will normally get about 2 seasons out of a set of grips.

They look like interesting grips but spending over $150 to grip a set of clubs seems kind of excessive.

Yeah, I know. That's why I said try one Iomic and see how it feels. My friend has one on his driver and feels like it sticks to your hand throughout the swing. I, myself have Multi Compound on my clubs. I wanted Iomic grips but the price discouraged me.

I just thought one grip ($16) on a driver wouldn't hurt the budget that much, now would it?

You can get a better price than that at Dick's. Bought mine for 2.49 apiece

I was surprised and once my Dad saw the grip condition of my irons, he said it was fine that I could get the GP Multi Compound - so that's what I did. Just installed them today, they look pretty good. They say they dry in an hour but I felt them after about 3 hours and they are still moving just a little. Hopefully they'll be fine for tomorrow.

    • I had two events the past two days. Yesterday I was playing a course blind. Hit it solid. Hit 9/14 fairways, 12/18 greens, 34 putts. Many of those putts were the result of balls that were close-ish to the hole when they landed, but wound up a long way away once they'd finished rolling (backwards mainly). Then today, hit 11/13 fairways, 11/18 greens, 37 putts, and shot 80. 8 over par and it wasn't particularly pretty. My big problem today was my pitching. I was inside 100 yards of the hole and off the green on 9 occasions.  1st - drive to about 75 yards, fanned a 58 degree short and right. On the green, but a good 40 feet away and good two putt from there (so took 3) 2nd - laid up to a bunker and it's narrow past it, so had 165 in, missed it right with an 8 iron. Wet rough, chip from about 5 yards off the green and the club snagged. It got on the green, but only temporarily. Overcorrected a bit on the next one and hit it a bit firm and it rolled out to about 35 feet. Putt didn't break and it ran on a bit and I missed the one back (greens were fast and a little bumpy, which didn't help, but doesn't excuse either). (took 5 to get down from close to the green) 4th - had about 95 from the right rough, hit it on the green and two putts (3) 5th - 90 from the fairway, tugged it and it got a firm bounce, chipped on and hit what I thought was a decent chip, but it ran out down the hill and two putts from 20 feet (4) 7th - 65 from the fairway, significant upslope and hit it a bit hard, ran long left against the collar. Tried to blade a PW, but it got under a bit so didn't advance it anything like far enough. Made a good two putt from there (4) 11th - 63 from the fairway, hit a squirrelly pitch on the green and two putts (3) 12th - 75 from the semi-rough, caught it a bit clean and it wound up on the back edge. Putting down a tier and it ran 8 feet past (that was actually a really good putt and couldn't have done any better I don't think) and missed that (4) 13th - 55 from the fairway, overcorrected and hit the big ball before the small ball. Then made a stellar up and down from 25 yards short to an elevated green with a putter (3) 15th - down in three from a greenside bunker (3) That was it. The other 9 holes I hit it on the green from outside 100 yards. So on those 9 occasions, I took 32 shots to get in the hole. 3.56 average. Terrible. Reason I'm posting this in here is to see if anyone has any suggestions for how to work on my contact with pitch shots. I don't have access to a grass range. Only mats and it's easy off a mat. Partly I think my problem is I've hit it off mats so much this winter that I've lost my judgement on where the ball is versus the ground because of the leeway granted. Open to ideas. I also suspect that under pressure I stand a bit closer to it and then get steep and hit down on it and it puts me in a bad place, but I can't seem to get myself to not do that.

    • Day 251 4-30 Worked on pelvis "going back" slightly in transition. Once i started getting some feel for it, added in wrist arching through. All done slower.
    • I've been putting whilst looking at the hole and it's definitely helped my distance control
