Sweetest ball since introduction of ProV1. Long, super-soft, has a very solid feel, great hop-and-stop on the greens. I also tried B330's from Bridgstone (Precept), but didn't like the click it was making while putting - similar feel to putting with a TopFlite.
Might be a coincidence, but my first round with the BlackMax was my personal best 69 !!!
I'm in love

are you lining up with the logo in the back ?

I played 2 rounds with one ball and no sign of wear or tear... (includes one bounce off a rock...). I guess if you catch it right with a wedge it might happen, or you got a ball from the "thin-paint" batch

I do drive BMW, but never used that nickname.. I also don't recall any relationship to TGC, so I guess the answer is "no"

Sorry dude. There is a guy on The Golf Channel discussion boards that used to use the same name you do and because he too is a TW fan when I saw the pic of TW's wife and twin sister I made what I now realize is an erroneous assumption. Sorry about that. SS

I might need to pick up a dozen of the BlackMax to see what the hype is about.

On another note, I was at a Bridgestone/Firestone plant on business one time and visited their "Gift Shop" and found golf balls for fairly cheap. They also had Bridgestone/Firestone golf shirts, hats, coolers, pens, etc, etc.

I still like the B330 and the V1x. I don't care for the BlackMax all that much. I don't like how it feels around the greens or how it yellows.

Yellows??? I'm afraid to ask what does your course use in the ball washers

But seriously - B330 had for me very "clicky" sound off the putter face, it felt like I was connecting with a ping-pong ball. Except for the sound/feel of the putt - agree it's a very good ball. Can't say nothing bad about v1x, except for the fact that it price is way up there, hard to find a bargain on eBay. The Blackmax around the green? I guess it's a personal and very subjective preference. I could play any of these 3, so it's the "best deal on Ebay" criteria now

Love the black max. I'm not much of a "hard" ball lover so I don't care for the V1x or 330. V1 regular still my fav.

I have a couple rounds in with the BlackMAX now and I have to say that I'm very impressed. The durability is great and I've been very happy with the flight of it. I'm going to take it out to the chipping and putting greens to compare some more but so far it's doing good.

Well one day I went on this big "registering binge." I'm almost scared to tell you what other names I have registered. So I reg'd a few golf related urls and rather than pointing them nowhere I just pointed them there...When that one runs out I'll probably just see if jason wants it....

Gotta agree with all the positives on the BlackMax. I always liked the ProV1 but often tried different balls to see how they felt (I'm sure I'm the only one here that does that ). A couple months ago I tried the B330s, Hogan Tour, and the BlackMax and couldn't find anything I didn't like about the Maxfli. I was never a fan of Maxfli's in the past and actually wasn't even going to try this one but I figured it couldn't hurt. During my abusive testing (yeah, it hit a cartpath and made a direct hit on a trap rake in the same round) this ball holds up very well and unlike the old Maxfli balls I haven't seen any evidence of yellowing. I really like that the ball doesn't seem to have a lot of spin off the driver yet it stops quick on the green, even on the hard winter greens we get down here in Florida. And the big plus: Edwin Watts has them for $29/dozen.

    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
    • Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.
    • Taking a crack it, but looks pretty clear. 11.1  Ball in Motion Accidentally Hits Person or Outside Influence. a. No Penalty to Any Player If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person (including the player) or outside influence: There is no penalty to any player. This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.
    • I had an interesting one yesterday, a local qualifier for the US Senior Open, at the Cascades Course at the Homestead.  Well, first things first, the VSGA arrnged for the officials to play the Cascades on Monday at the players' practice round rate.  Its lots of fun, rather old-style (built in the 1920s).  anyway, a player missed a short putt, and (apparently embarrassed) took a step to be ready to tap the ball back in.  The ball lipped out, and hit the player's foot.  I was nearby, and they waved me over, and asked "What do we do now?"  I was pretty sure of the ruling, but asked them to wait for a few seconds while i double-checked.  I did have it correct, even though its one of the more confusing rules in the book right now.  I'll leave the correct answer out for now, in case anyone wants to guess, or research it, and post their ruling.
