best locations to move for Golf?

We've currently in San Diego, but looking to move elsewhere, possibly Wilmington, NC. I'm wondering how the golfing compares so far as course quality and costs, anyone know a "treasure map" for this? Or thoughts?

As for playing golf year-round, San Diego is about as good as it gets, in my opinion. But if you are considering a move for other reasons, there are plenty of areas that are great for golf. North Carolina is certainly one of them. I have a friend who lives in Wilmington (he's a commercial airline pilot so could live just about anywhere). He likes it very much.

Any place you pick will have good expensive golf and good cheap golf. You will have to do your own research on what you consider quality versus cost. I currently live in central Florida where there is certainly no shortage of high-priced golf courses, but I play at a very nice course for $800 per year. So it depends on what you want.

My recommendation is to first find the place you and your family want to live.  There will always be golf available.

I will add one additional caveat though, if you're wide open, I'd always look hard at the states that have no state income tax first.  That savings right there will pay for your golf every year!  FWIW......Florida is probably the one with the most/best golf options.

Tough to go wrong with Myrtle Beach IMHO.  So many great courses to choose from with relatively inexpensive green fees.
