Superquad questions

I plan on getting a TM Superquad and had a couple of questions.
From my understanding the TP version of this club ($300) more, features a slightly open face and a better shaft. Currently I play a 905r which has a square or slightly open face. I plan on reshafting the superquad, so can I have a clubmaker open the face? My misses are draws going to hooks, so this should limit this problem correct? Also on a semi related note, are players with this club changing the weights between holes?

Can't answer your shaft questions, but I can answer your changing weights question: You cannot change weights around during the round (legally). I mean physically of course you could...but you'd be breaking the rules of golf.

You can have it shafted with the face a degree open to the spine, but you might want to consider shafting it square and dealing with the directional issues by changing the weight configuration..... unless you are dead set on having a 1 degree open driver.

That's very possible, I tried it out at golfsmith, and the TP version with both 14gram weights in the back gave me a very nice high draw which gave me a considerable increase in distance (the 905r hits low piercing drives), but perhaps I will just reshaft the 905r. I dont see the point in paying 700 for a driver, much less one that will get a different shaft. When I tried the normal version with the weights in the fade position the ball was lower and went straight, With both weights in the back I was getting a noticeably more right to left shot pattern. Oh well, recommendations on a new high launch low spin driver with an open or square face to try?

Maybe look into getting the 905R reshafted with the YS-6. I was hitting it much higher with that shaft than my V2

I was doing a bit of reading up on the 905R. Also hit it a few times at Golf Galaxy. seemed to have a closed face promoting a draw.

ive hit the hibore xl tour spec, and yes it is a low drive machine. I hit it with 9.5 stiff, and it refused to get up regardless of how i changed my swing. That being said it rolled forever and was very accurate, so i didnt mind it as much. I carry my actual driver at least 20 more yards than the hibore, but in the end the hibore was about as long cuz of the roll.

I have hit the Whtieboard in the HiBore XL, and its a great combo. It is an extremely tip stiff shaft, so if you have issues hitting the ball in the air, it would not be the shaft for you. I would have to say that less than 5% of golfers would actually benefit from using the Whiteboard.

On the mitsubishi website it was a higher launching blueboard, I've heard the blueboard compared to the V2, and its not that I hit the V2 terrificly low, I just want more carry out of my driver. But dont want a whippy shaft. How can I go about testing various shafts? Also it is a closed face, but less than my friends hibore, and looks like less than the superquad.

btw you cant legally change the weights between holes. it must be done before or after the round, not during. that question was asked in golf digest, so you can depend on it.

The Whiteboard is not a higher launching shaft than the Blueboard. Not sure what website you are looking at, but if you are talking about kickpoint, a high kickpoint=low launch. If you are looking for something with a higher launch and like the Diamana series, I would go with the Redboard.

Check golf shops near you. Someone has to have a fitting cart that allows you to change out shafts and try them with different heads. I know Callaway and Cleveland both offer these fitting carts, but you would probably have a better chance finding the Callaway one. Check their website for locations near you, or just call all the golf shops in your area.

Sorry to tell ya, but that site is incorrect. Go right to the manufacturer if you want to know something about their product.

i wouldnt buy a non tp taylormade driver again..the closed face is rediculous.. either TP or titleist for me from now on

You cannot have the club shafted one degree open becuase the one degree open is created through the hosel beside the face. If you reshaft the club it will still be slightly closed no matter what you do. Unless you can see if someone can bend the clubs hosel open one degree without compromising the integrity of the club.
