ok... I'm not the best science or math person in the world.. but if the course was par 72 and you shot a -20 thats like a 52.......

Not just like....that is in fact a 52 since we shot -20 on a par 72. You are correct there. And to the guy saying we cheated, well, to each his own, but I view golf as a game of honor and integrity. There is no room or excuse for cheating on a golf course. If someone else wants to do it, then it better not affect me directly.

We bought 2 red tees, 2 mulligans, and 2 throws. Every other team had at least 4 of each. Without using any of these we would have shot -18.

I just would love to play on team that can birdie every hole out there.. thats alot of pressure and you came through... and as for the score, with what you added as the mulligans and such, that makes it better to understand how a team gets these low scores... all the matches I have played I have only seen one with mulligans and we bought none.. I will have to think again next time as to buying some of these to help I suppose.
I also have to get better draws for my 3rd/4th players... I don't play with 4 guys who shoot well.. that may have something to do with it too.. my card on one showed I had 46 shots to the other 18 shots of the other 3 guys... a more even split would be easier to pick and choose best shots, especially around the greens...

I think if you have the option, you should choose a red tee or throw without a doubt. The mulligans aren't too beneficial IMO.

Granted, a lot of scrambles allow you to buy as many mulligans as you want for $5 or $10 each, plus you get different rules that make the scoring really low. ONe of my favorites is the power drive - where you are allowed ot tee off from the ladies tees on the hole of your choice. Makes an almost reachable par 4 an eagle opportunity.

yeah a Co-worker of mine was telling me a few weeks back that he was in a Tourney with some Ravens players (for charity) and that a guy (not a Raven Player) bought 6 mulligans and used 3 of them on a Par3 and he won the closest to the pin because of it

, I actually thought that was not right, just my opinion though

Best team I have been on was -14 (58). It was good for second place. We had two hight single digits and myself (16) and another 16. Not a long course but tight with alot of doglegs.

I won't play in scrambles that allow unlimited mulligans or any unlimited buy ins. It just becomes a money game.

Same reason I don't play Texas hold 'em with a rebuy. Takes so much of the skill out of the game.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
