Anyone out there own/ride a bike? I realize they aren't useful for hauling the clubs around, but I've been looking into saving up some money, taking some AMA certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation classes, and finding myself a nice summer toy and new hobby.

I love to ride. I had a 2000 Victory V92 that was such a great bike. Alias, it was sacrificed to the Graduate School Money Gods. I can't wait to replace it though.

You will enjoy it, that is for sure!

Yeah, education payments are whats keeping me from starting ASAP. From what I've read it seems beneficial to start out on a smaller bike (250 or 500cc). Only looked at cruisers and standards really so far, couldn't ever see myself on a rocket.

Have been riding since I was 18, so that's 26 years now.
Have owned a large variety of bikes over the years & currently have 3.
96 Harley Dyna Wideglide
01 Buell X1
04 Yamaha R1

And with a stand bag with the dual shoulder straps you can easily haul your clubs. I have done it many times, the furthest I have ridden with the clubs was 25 miles & it's no problem.

raced big bikes for a few years til that got really expensive (crashing costs a lot) then soon after got into racing supermoto, less expensive...then came wife and kid....buhbye racing.

have owned:
99, 00, 01, 03, 05 Yamaha R6
03 Honda XR650R
03, 04 Honda CRF450R

and I still have the 2003 Custom I built. like a Harley but built by me...kinda like West Coast Choppers but not as expensive and much cheaper parts.

I still ride every once in a while and have yet to ever try to carry clubs.

I highly recommend the MSF course if you do get into it and maybe try to start on dirt also.

I've ridden a dirt bike a ton of times and a "mini-bike" I used to have (5 HP with lawn mower engine on motorcycle type frame...went about 40 MPH, so it was fun.) but I can't drive on the road yet being on 15 years of age. I don't think I'll ever drive one, too dangerous. Lol.

i love to ride. but... there is too much downside to riding, for me atleast. i know a couple of people who got into accidents. 2 lived, 1 died. the main reason i don't buy my own bike and ride daily, i live in california and there are so many bad drivers and driver's w/ out licnese and/or insurance. it takes 1 moron not to watch the road and your dead..... thats 1 reason good enough for me. you might be the best rider in the world, but someone hits you. you can't control that.

    • Day 12: did the yardstick putting drill for a bit while watching tv.
    • Hole 6, 185 uphill par 3, wind out of the right. I hit a 7 iron to 5-FT left of the pin. The ball landed about 185.5 yards. I drained the putt for a birdie, and most likely a skin.  2nd place is more of a best swing made. 110 yard wedge shot, where I did what I wanted in the back swing and downswing.  I hit a 75% partial wedge 95%. It was flushed, flighted, and beautiful to watch fly over the green. 🤣. I will need to redial in the wedges sometime. Since I am making an effort to make my former 3/4 swing length my full swing length.
    • Is that like "the longest yardstick you can find"? I don't have Airtags but I'd call all of them Airtags too.!
    • Yea, that makes sense.  I remember an Open tournament when they brought out the wind meter one day because balls were being blown around the green. I think it was 45+ sustained, which probably means 60 mph gusts.  I think for the most part, it isn't something that needs to be taken into account.  Also, a golf ball is designed to optimally move through the air. It has better aerodynamics than a sphere.  Thanks for your expertise on this. That makes sense. I know about how wind diminishes the lower in height you go. I didn't know it went near zero at the ground. I deal more with tall structures (utility poles), and we have to take into account height and impacts of wind on the pole. A bit of experience, but wasn't sure how close to zero, non-impactful it was on the golf ball on the ground.
    • Day 2 (7 Aug 25) - More work on tempo with mid-irons, moved to wedges for the balance of the drill.
