Cleaning golf balls

If I'm not at the course I'll just use a sponge and soapy water in the garage sink to clean off balls. Scuffs can affect ball flight, and if severe enough roll, which is key on putts.

I was at Golfsmith and I bought the Ballzee. It looks like a flat clam shell and when you open it up there is material on both sides that you wet down before you play. It stays dry on the outside. I have used it twice and been very unimpressed. It does fine for getting mud of the ball, but it does not help with grass clippings. They had mowed just before our round Sunday and after each cleaning, I found myself still whiping grass of the ball.

Most effective way of cleaning a golf ball? Really?? Just spit on it and wipe it off with your towel or hand.
