What condition are the clubs you usually get from 3balls? (Quick note, I assumed their URL was 3balls.com, typed it into the address bar, hit Enter, and thought, "I probably shouldn't guess at a URL with 'balls in it...'"). I ask because I went to their site (luckily that URL was the right one, haha), and almost died when I saw these:

http://www.3balls.com/product-productid/353606/MIZUNO-MENS-JPX-800-IRONS-RH-USED

Since I started looking at clubs a few days ago, I REALLY took a liking to the JPX-800, particularly the color (probably because I'm a Cubs fan). They say that the condition is a 4, or Very Good. I figured that's fine, until I read it might mean "shallow nicks/ding," which has me a bit hesitant. However, they already have the 1" shaft extensions. Then there's the downside that they don't have the 4i included, but 2nd Swing DOES have the 4H for $48, which I wouldn't mind getting.

But what that mini-rant was SUPPOSED to be was an inquiry of which quality you usually get your clubs in from that site, and how they matched your expectations.

Yeah, that's the fear I have, but I figure I'll try to hit something CLOSE to it (like something of the same brand, preferably the same shaft style and length) beforehand. As I've said, I'm not a talented/experienced golfer as it stands, so I'm not too concerned that my clubs won't be EXACTLY perfect for me at this stage.

That's why you go to a Golf Galaxy or Golfsmith and try them there. Get fit there too. Then buy elsewhere. It's what I did.

Now isn't that awesome!!?? hahaha what are the chances? you're welcome!

I bought a Taylormade Rbz stage 2 3 wood 15* and it was also a 4 "very good". It had no scratches on the head, face or shaft, but it did have two little chips near the hossel. http://www.ebay.com/itm/350838642956?_trksid=p2059212.m2749.l2649&ssPageName;=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I actually couldn't believe how great of shape it was in. I was amazed that I got a $200 3 wood for $67 in that great of shape. It still had the original grip on it which was still in great condition. Through my experience with them, I've noticed they highly under-value their clubs. 5,6,7 are like literally new. 4 will be fantastic and those irons will work very well for you. I'm glad you found a perfect fit. And yes, those Mizuno's are great irons. I almost got the JPX-825's. I loved them. Good luck bud.

P.S. that picture that is on the site is an actual picture of your clubs. That face has minimal wear at best. Sweet deal if you ask me

Stop saying such good things. You're going to make me impulse-buy them. The plan is to go to Golf Discount--our only actual golf specialty store--on Sunday, with my brother-in-law (he has med school stuff Friday and I have my graduation Saturday), so hopefully they're still up there after that.

Sorry

No worries, I'm not one of those "there's always next year" fans. I know the level of suck, and that it's 2-3 years before it gets better. I've had the hope beaten out of me.

Graduation? Congrats! I get my bacehlors Aug 8th. I'm pretty excited. :smartass:

How many 2-3 years before it gets better have CHC gone though? hahahaha. Hey, at least you're not an Astros fan :-P

Thanks, mine's Saturday, in Computer Science, what's yours?

Also, if you use any intelligence, the answer was definitely 0. 2008 was the last semi-meaningful season, and it was a dud at the end. I could run you through every major transaction since Alfonso Soriano signed, explain to you how I knew it was moronic at the time, and give you the proof, haha. I think I've highjacked this thread enough though, so I won't turn it into a baseball rant.

hahaha I like you, man. haha. That's funny. That's a great degree. Good job. Mine is in Business Management with a concentration in Construction Management.

P.S. Don't trip walking across the stage!

Buy good mused clubs. If you decide to get something else down the road, at least you could sell those to get some of your $$$ back.

    • Hitting some good shots on my golf trip. It's good I can tell when I hit better shots the way I want to swing the ball versus when I use an older swing. Shockingly, the short game has been at worst, not harmful to my game. I am using similar feels to the full swing, in that I try to get my hands down. I've been nipping the ball clean off the turf.
    • I was laid off two months ago. Good severance, a 90 day layoff announcement regulation the company wanted to avoid so technically I'm still on the payroll for a few weeks, and a bunch of banked PTO, so I'm in a great spot and working on a startup idea I've been batting around with my brother for a while. That means I've got time to get to the gym! I'm at like 60-75 minutes 5x a week of strength training, and either a run or a bunch of time playing soccer or tennis with my daughter on the weekends. Stronger than I've been in forever. Up ~5 pounds of (noticeable!) muscle!
