Turn a fairway wood into a hybrid?

Has anyone ever tried to turn a fairway wood into a hybrid? I bought my first hybrid this week! Cleveland classic 3h 20.5*.... Love it! Now I have a DCT 3fw @ 15* & a 5fw @18* The classics 2h & 3h are exactly the same loft and lie as my DCT fw's and a similar shape, So I'm considering re shafting them at the classics length using the ust v2 high launch hybrid shafts! As I struggle getting these fw's up off the deck! Surely I'm not the only person who's thought of this??? Any thoughts???

So I'm considering re shafting them at the classics length using the ust v2 high launch hybrid shafts! As I struggle getting these fw's up off the deck!

Surely I'm not the only person who's thought of this??? Any thoughts???

That's the plan! I was kinda hoping someone would say... "I did exactly the same thing and it's the best thing I ever did!" I'll be getting a club fitter to do it properly so the swing weights match! In theory it sounds great! I was just wondering if anyone knew of a reason they won't work?

@Hardballs ,  let us know how it works.  I find it much easier to hit my 3 hybrid than my 3 wood.  Could just be a shaft length issue for me though.

I didn't re-shaft, but I did experiment with what you're suggesting... I had cut down an older 4 wood for my daughter some time ago. It had a shaft that was too soft for me and figured it would be good for her to learn on. She has since moved to a new set and when I was looking for a fairway wood to outfit a bag for behind my truck seat, there in my club bin sat the shortened 4 wood. It measures at 0.5 inches longer than my Cleveland Halo 2 hybrid and plays stiffer with the cut down shaft. It is a fantastic club off the deck and out of light to medium rough!! Would probably be even better if I'd re-shaft but works the way it is and so what the heck!

      Day 63 (12 May 26) - Nine hole session today with my friend Mike  - worked on approach distances to have good opportunities to set up for up and downs around the greens.  It made for a good time to discipline myself to not get greedy but rather steady.

      You're right.  Side note, and funny story, the only time I can remember hitting a shot O.B. on that hole for the second shot, it was a topped shot where I started near the O.B. marker.  I wonder if I'm not getting as good a shot as I could because I'm nervous about O.B., but I'm not hesitating to hit a 4W if I get a good lie.

      Day 262 5-12 Got an early practice session in this morning. Arms off body was the main focus with getting chest through with speed, I did much better with wrist arching through the downswing.

      Yea, developing a proper shot zone for that approach should would be helpful. If you are bringing OB into play more than you like, then it is either needs to be an accepted reward for the risk. If you hit 10 shots from that tee ball landing area. If like 1 ball goes OB, that could be outlier shots you need to discard. If more than that is creeping in, then it is probably not the correct shot.  Maybe it needs to be more nuanced. Maybe you hit more shots OB from the left side of the hole than right due to shot shape. If you hit it left to right, maybe being on the left side makes you aim further right, bringing in OB right. It could be an aiming issue.
